No, the costume designer, the art director, and the CGI effects people. They seem to have left. They apparently had issues with the budget. It may be a rumor still but it does make sense when you think about how long it took them to cast people and the costumes and make up and everything. I'd also heard people complain that iqiyi is a bit stingy before but I'd ignored them. Guess they were right? I don't know. It will be sad. I hope they can rectify it. I am angry right now, but I really do want HOB's live action to be a massive success.
It seems the former designer left suddenly and the new one didn't have time to make something detailed but the extremely negative responses may have caused them to rethink it. I don't know. I just don't like how iqiyi is handling this whole thing. They also beat up the fans... I just don't care anymore! I'll only love the book and if the show ends up being good then great, if not then I'll pretend it doesn't exist.
I think that project is a bit of a lost case. Seems like the high profile crew that initially were attached to it all backed out. Those are the real costumes too.
I rest easy knowing CFY is probably pestering the production team on our behalf to air the show already! He must be as excited as other fans to see the finished product.
Things I like about this show: The opening/closing titles are pretty, the costumes are amazing, the aesthetics are very warm and lovely, Chinese opera, Bai Lu, the male lead is a sweet bunny (just so sweet), the storytelling style is very quirky and fun.
That awkward moment when your research lab is more toxic and gossip-infested than a harem!
I actually don't hate it because the beginning of ep 1 felt like the show was going to be a preaching propaganda slogan but then that work environment turned out to be so unhealthy and messed up and everyone is a hack! lol. Love the irony.
Arthur chen on his recent interview said to expect some of his works will be broadcasted soon... Guess I've to…
I mean, if the show is to come this year, then we must be getting close to its airing date...based on how time moves I mean! I don't know, I've heard some things, not about the airing date, just about how things have been happening lately and how convenient it would be for the show to air and ...I don't know, it's plausible?
I actually had a talk with my mom about this topic. She said that this is 義氣, honor, which is an ideal that…
Thank you for this explanation. It's always nice to know the historical, cultural, and philosophical context of things. I personally prefer the Romantic notions of individualism so this level of self-sacrifice always upsets me, even though we have it in my culture as well. I get it when it's for the greater good or the betterment of huge groups of people but one on one? Which girl deserved to live? Who are we to choose, you know? Who can decide which individual deserves to survive and who doesn't? That's what got to me. I have seen similar dramatic devotions in other shows too but I really felt like this one just hit harder. It was just too much. It's really difficult to grasp from a modern perspective but I suppose it made sense for the character. You are definitely right as well. That girl will never forgive her mother.
Yes! I really enjoy Bai Yu's acting. He just makes my heart hurt so good and he just knocked it out of the park in The Long Night. That show was amazing and I cried so much during the last episode, all because of his amazing performance. I haven't watched Guardian yet, I've just seen a little bit to know I like his acting there too. I try to follow his shows if I can. (And yeah, Yang Mi is pretty good too. I like her acting style.)
I can feel traces of comedy. And comedy, is NOT something I like in historical dramas.Lastly, I feel like, this…
Oh I am exactly the same! I don't like humor in most dramatic stories and I felt like there was a lot of that in this but I'm thinking it will become darker as the story progresses, maybe.
Whatever they wear or look like ill be happy because love is in the heart of the act and not based solely in appearance.…
I don't think a huge company investing in an endeavor that can potentially earn them millions is somehow a favor done for fans that fans should be grateful for. It's a business. It's not a charity.

It's one of those rare shows that doesn't really have a slow moment. It's pretty fun to get through.
