They were foolish! They should have aired it with no promotion. The show has got too much hype already. It's sort of promoting itself at this point...money-hoarding companies , man...they play themselves

I do hate the idol culture. It's definitely a result of turning actors into the product itself. Then fans think they have a right over that actor's personhood, body, and privacy. I just don't know how a governmental movement can fix it. As far as I know,( and I don't know much because I never care about actors outside of their acting, )the actors for this show are not super powerful or influential so I don't think there will be any major issues with them hopefully. The best thing to come out of this situation is that creepy rapist getting his comeuppance. We heard this show had its airing license early this year too, but it could be fake. If they had it and didn't air it then I'll at least be smug when it blows in their face...again.

I actually feel bad for all the shows that will be affected. I'm so upset because I have seen it happen where I live. They basically don't make shows here anymore. Just some watered down nationalist show once or twice a year. I really enjoy cdramas. I'll be sad to see a similar crusade destroy them all. I hope this will air sooner and be done with it, too. I don't get why tencent is hoarding shows. just air the stuff you make so you won't get million dollar losses later!

The thing is, I don't think it will pass more scrutiny. I don't know, each country has their own antiques. It's just such a shame. This is definitely burning the innocent along the guilty. Someone else has done something wrong and gotten away with it for so long because the whole system benefited from its ignorance towards that. Now sh!t has hit the fan and they are overcompensating. I live somewhere not unlike mainland china so I am familiar with these sorts of behaviors and I'm really irritated by it all. Pathetic attempts to hide broken structures. Whatever...perhaps it's time to stop supporting the mutilated content that is allowed to be produced under such conditions. Who's this benefiting? If I was one of the creators, I would just be so withered.
Did you make it or are you still in need of spiritual support? lol
It was okay. Very upsetting. I was relieved when Xiao Feng died because the book actually makes life the worst option! It's very short, not as detailed as the show at all.
I'm new here, I haven't read the novel or anything but after watching WOH (and it becoming my favourite series…
It has a love triangle for one volume of the three volumes and it's very fundamental to the whole story. It's very important. So even though it's not there the whole time, it's still very present throughout the story. It has major CGI work. especially if they go according to the book. It's high budget and the same group who worked on Ancient Love Poetry have worked on this. This story is probably a form of low-level Xianxia. Think Love and Redemption. It has a lot of magical elements but the gods don't really appear in the show. The realms exist but the main characters are human. It's heavier in its magic than both WOH and TU but less than AoL. I'm not done with Fuyao yet but it's sort of like the beginning of that show but maybe a notch higher? The themes are pretty heavy in the book, god knows what will make it in the show. It's a redemption arc story but it's a bit unconventional in that regard. I also think it will be considered a dog-blood story? Not totally sure. It has transmigration, wuxia elements, romances that last lifetimes, vengeance, corruption, redemption and it asks some fundamental questions about what it means to be good or bad and what we owe ourselves vs. what we owe others. The book has a lot of serious triggers. It's not for fainthearted, puritans, or people who can't handle Chinese cultures without bringing their western pov into it and going all colonialist on it! lol. But if you can handle those stuff, the book is a delight to read. My favorite character is Chu Wanning and I think he's about 75% of the fandom's favorite so go figure! I hope this helped.
Nah, I don't think so. If Novoland drops, it'll be the most random drop ever considering its Yang Mi and het,…
Yeah, apparently the rumor for novoland's air date is December which I love! Mainly because it's not August/September, lol. But I've also been seeing the show around for too long so I feel like it will also be ready for airing anytime and that makes me nervous. So I'm mostly speaking it to jinx it, here!
Oh no.. Is it confirmed? What about league of noblemen? Are we getting any bl this month?
No I'm just saying, as long as we're talking about shows Tencent might air, novoland is very much in the running. Though the novoland rumor is for a December air date.
Did you make it or are you still in need of spiritual support? lol
I went into watching this already knowing about that aspect so I wasn't really frustrated that the ml was a bad person. Because I wasn't expecting a wholesome romantic dynamic between the main characters, I was able to appreciate the upsetting parts! In fact, when I compare it to the book, the show went pretty easy on the men in the story. They are actually worse in the book and my main frustration was that the show wasn't leaning further into that horribleness! lol
lol! the composer saw those melon news also and commented below that, he literally got fooled by those melons.................
I still think we're actually getting close to the airing date. There's just too many signs. I just don't trust 20th of August specifically. With a lot of shows, not just bl, usually the actual date is close to the rumor but not on it so yeah...circus is back in business for sure!
I understand where you're coming from and why this upsets you, but at the same time I don't really think it's…
It does matter on an artistic level. Creating movies is a form of creating art. By not trying to convey the intention of the piece most thoroughly, its value is decreased. That makes shows and movies a capitalist product instead of a work of art and that destroys good projects and the passion to create good movies. I think it's very important to point these flaws out and do better in future. If we don't do this, soon there won't be any art to go to. Just soulless mass produced garbage that sucks the life out of you.
This post is so valid. I actually really like this show too, it's one of my favorite cdramas. When I watched it for the first time, I didn't really pay attention to the technical parts too much because it was my very first cdrama and I had really low expectations for it so I was already surprised that the show was even functional, so I was impressed. I have since watched better-produced works so its flaws stand out to me more (though I still love it. I'm mostly just charmed by what a sloppy production it was! ) It is true that the numbers were laughable once you could see the dead space in every shot. Sometimes, I felt like craning my head to the side while watching . Your technical explanation of why the shot was not good really helped me understand why I had that urge. The professional criticism it gets is a lot more understandable too. I really appreciate that. I look forward to more articles from you.
