I think we should wait until the show ends. The true ratings only really come around about two weeks after a show ends. It'll be fine. Don't overthink the ratings. What matters is how much you enjoy watching the show🙂

I agree! I just love their brotherhood. It felt like the most authentic relationship in the show.I could watch their shenanigans for 40 episodes. The main romance plots just pale in comparison. They seem mechanical, like the characters just have to succumb to romance but that brotherhood was real.

I get that but he's just creating more broken people. He's trying but failing miserably too. I think the character has the potential to be interesting but he's just no doing it for me. Maybe it's the writing, maybe it's the acting. I don't really feel like I am connecting with him. Plus, the emperor was happy with Tilan so Jianming stumbling over himself to make amends feels futile.

That first scene was hilarious. It reminded of this other scene in a show, the guy shoves his gf out of the way to hug his bestfriend😂

That is just some messed up priorities, putting the royal family above one self. It leaves you asking if all the sacrifice is actually worth it.

My problem with those two is how Tilan fell for him. It makes no sense.

Jokes aside, it's just all too unfair to Haishi. Even when we consider the difficult decisions that Jianming has to make, it still is not fair how he tortures Haishi.

I think one reason I like this show is because everyone, in their own way, is a victim of terrible circumstances. It's just an interesting set up but it doesn't really change the fact that they also make each other suffer for no reason, either.

All cards on the table: I am absolutely loving the experience of watching this show. It's just such an entertaining show. It's becoming more and more interesting with each episode.

Yes. The show very cunningly chose to show the ..."transaction" ... from shifu's perspective. A device that frames what he did as an honorable sacrifice while presenting his loss as tragic but just think about it from haishi's view. He basically took away every right she had to freedom and her own body and didn't even bother to clue her in!!! That was...just brutal.

I think what just happened is probably the most indecent thing i have seen happen in a Cdrama if not in all dramas ever!
I think everyone has a threshold of tolerance and what Jianming did just goes beyond the line for most people. I can't imagine how she could love him after that.

I'm serious when i say I'm not sure if i actually want a happy ending.
There's just no true trust between shifu and haishi. I'm reading this novel and in it the male lead deceives the protagonist because he's afraid to lose her. The lines following the deception were that the foundation of all good love is trust. When you remove trust, the love is doomed.
Here...the love is doomed, man. Whether they end up together or not is irrelevant.

No he didn't stab him for that, he was meant to stab the emperor but was interupted by the shifu and that'swhy he was stabbed.
