I'm serious when i say I'm not sure if i actually want a happy ending. There's just no true trust between shifu…
Yes. The show very cunningly chose to show the ..."transaction" ... from shifu's perspective. A device that frames what he did as an honorable sacrifice while presenting his loss as tragic but just think about it from haishi's view. He basically took away every right she had to freedom and her own body and didn't even bother to clue her in!!! That was...just brutal.

I think what just happened is probably the most indecent thing i have seen happen in a Cdrama if not in all dramas ever! I think everyone has a threshold of tolerance and what Jianming did just goes beyond the line for most people. I can't imagine how she could love him after that.
I'm serious when i say I'm not sure if i actually want a happy ending. There's just no true trust between shifu and haishi. I'm reading this novel and in it the male lead deceives the protagonist because he's afraid to lose her. The lines following the deception were that the foundation of all good love is trust. When you remove trust, the love is doomed. Here...the love is doomed, man. Whether they end up together or not is irrelevant.
Maybe, if they had taken their clothes off at normal speed instead of slow motion, then they'd already be done by the time the poison reached them.😒
Though this drama has a lot of points where we feel frustrated, we did laugh and cry along with the characters…
Personally, I am really enjoying the show. It's a very easy watch for me, the production is good and the plot is interesting, even if I don't like all of the characters, none of them annoy me which is a blessing. I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece for me but it's definitely a very good show. I have no regrets from picking it up!
Talk about much ado about nothing. If Shurong becomes empress then the whole "Haishi will be empress" plot is…
Unfortunately it's not translated. Some of the viewers who have read the book told us about the events that happen in the novel and that's how I know about them, too.
I have a very unpopular opinion here…although I’m enjoying this drama, I’m not feeling the relationship…
Yeah, I have seen master/disciple romance in other shows and I have liked them but the one here is just not working out, and as you said the ick-factor is somehow stronger? For instance, I am coming fresh from watching One and Only earlier this year and that show really sold the idea and I was rooting for that couple but here I'm just...underwhelmed.

Is it at all likely that they will have a child but the emperor will raise it as his own? I guess we'll have to wait to see what will happen! I'm so excited. Now I can go read all the spoiler comments here while waiting for new episodes. lol

That sounds intriguing. I'll settle for a nor happy nor sad ending too. I don't know if you can tell, I actually like tragedies! I was actually just coming back to comment that it's unlikely that things would just work out since we have 14 more episodes to go still and a lot can happen in that time.
