A very good article! Very interesting insight about power inbalance in Winter Garden couple. I didn't enjoy them quite as much this season (mostly due to their lack of communication though), even though I shipped them real hard. Something just fell off about them, and it might be what you pointed out.

Woah, that was really good. Found it on Netflix on a boring afternoon, and was little taken aback by the low rating on MDL, but started it nonetheless. It's been quite some time since I have seen such a range of different characters on screen, with almost all of the cast getting proper development. I loved how sensitive issues were handled the way they should be. The pace was just right to me as well (I fast-forwarded few longer scenes, but it's really nothing). My female-protagonist-focused-show loving heart was incredibly content. Not a show that would make my heart ache after finishing it, but it had a lot of things I related to, and was a true pleasure to watch. Very very very solid show, recommend all the way.

Title Yumi's Cells Spoiler
I enjoyed this drama ... The acting was wonderful...I have to ask this question though: does it make sense their…
Yes, exactly my sentiment! I guess maybe sth happened behind the scenes for Woong to agree to break up (as he had just put Yumi as his 1st priority, he shouldn't break up so easily without a reason), and that's why he agreed on the breakup. But still really weird that he didn't even ask why she brought up that subject. For all the times they shared, weird to break up with no argument between them whatsoever.

Title Yumi's Cells Spoiler
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with how the breakup went. I mean, we as viewers knew all the things they were bottling up, what Woong was hiding from Yumi and so on. But from character's perspective, it just felt that Woong didn't really know why Yumi wanted to break up with him, and didn't even ask. Like he expected that she didn't like the way he responded to her and didn't like that he didn't give an answer about the marriage. And similar to Yumi - the breakup just felt very sudden, and they went from living together lovingly to breaking up few weeks later. I know that that might just be how some couples are, and the lack of communication was a big problem for them from the start, but I was expecting at least some conversation like: "Yumi, why do you want to take a break?", "Woong, I'm breaking up because of this and that". Or maybe it's just that I have a very different perspective from my own experience. Anyways, they are a very cute couple, too bad they couldn't talk more to each other and work it out. I guess we will see more growth from them in the later season(s?).

Title My Name Spoiler
Thats what i wanna know. Or was it the gangsta pretending to be cops?
I think hardly anyone knew he was an undercover cop (I believe that only his superior knew or sth?). Especially that he was undercover for more than 10 years and changed his name. But yeah, the show has a fair amount of things that make little sense (his daughter didn't know her dad's true name? She must have been 5-8 years old at this point...)

I don't know what type of character development you want from people who are in their 40s. 🙂🙂
Well, in S1 we got Andrea accepting that he can lead a fulfilling life outside of priesthood, Gyeo-Ul warming up a lot to patients, Jun Wan getting into his first serious, longlasting relationship, and these are just from the top of my head. You could argue if there is character development in S2 (I think there is some but handled way worse than in S1), but 40-year olds definitely still have a room to grow.

I do like Yumi going to Woong first tho. Sometimes in relationships it doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong…
Yes! It can be really hard to overcome your pride, so I'm glad that Yumi decided to take action instead of holding it in and regretting after.

Yes, it most probably happened during the time skip, and it was inplied that it was unsuccessfull.

Are you kidding me? What moronic logic is this even? This is Kim Eun Sook and he's starring opposite Song Hye…
I'd actually rather he didn't star with Song Hye Kyo, cause I'm not fan of the chemistry she has with her co-stars (or lack thereof, in my opinion). But I can't blame Lee Do Hyun when he is just a starting actor who wants to earn money and will probably soon go to military, so he has to gain as much popularity as possible to ensure a comeback after finishing his service. Not the best time to choose only niche projects I'm afraid.

Title Yumi's Cells Spoiler
Probably unpopular opinion, but there are too many scenes with cells. I can't deny that they are funny, cute,…
Also I was spoiled in terms of who will Yumi end up with, and as much as I love spoilers (spoiled each husband in Reply series, don't regret it a bit), this time I feel like I'm just searching things in Woong to justify the upcoming breakup. I mean he is flawed, he is working a lot, gets sulky at times, but I don't want to hate him for it - if it was real life, I would forgive those things if I talked about it with my BF and if he apologized. (The only thing I can't stand is his relationship with Sae Yi, such a toxic friend). But I don't think he's THAT bad (as for ep 7) and that their relationship is just developing. But we'll see how it goes.

Title Yumi's Cells
Probably unpopular opinion, but there are too many scenes with cells. I can't deny that they are funny, cute, really relatable, and the concept is definitely something unique - but it distracts me from the main human characters. It just truly feels like 2 seperate shows at times, and I just keep wanting to skip the cells scenes and cen't get fully immersed in the show.

Really? I honestly thought that when they started dating he started to look very cool! Especially when he has full-length pants on, not shorts. The only thing I would change is the hairstyle haha

She is truly a chemistry queen, can't deny that. But I also admire the way she has been choosing her roles - I can't think of many actors who had roles in that many fantastic dramas (especially romcoms, as it's the biggest part of my watchlist). I really love what I've seen from her and I'm putting When the Weather is Fine as next drama on my watchlist.

Well, I have to disagree... In S2 we got plenty of forced dramatic situations. Ik Sun's and Jun Wan's break up being the prime example, followed by Song Hwa's confession after Ik Jun's accident. And to me it's no wonder that people were expecting more of a closure. As they say, if you hang a gun on the wall at the start of a movie, it better go off before the end. A lot of scenes were foreshadowed - Min Ha meeting Bear's mom once again, Winter Garden engagement, Andrea meeting Gyeul's mother. Others are just typical to expect - like how is Song Hwa going to adapt to being Uju's stepmother. Not everything has to be answered (like what happened in Hawaii), but I think it's not weird to expect some things.

The drama is a masterpiece but I wish to know more1) Remember in season 1 in one episode preview Seok Hyungs mom…
I totally agree that ep 12 definitely feels just like another weekly episode, not at all as a series finale... And I even feel like Ik Jun's words about them not playing together again were just for us to feel a bit nostalgic and don't make any particular sense. It's not like Reply 1988 that they moved from their neighbourhood, got jobs, families and will never come back there again. They are working together and in their 40s. Andrea moving to US for a year does not make it impossible to meet on the same basis ever again...

My theory is that if they wanted to do S3, then the last scene of ep 11 would be the last scene of ep 12. If they wanted to create some tension before S3, they would have ended it like that. But if they're giving us a glimpse into what happens after the confessions, that's probably because they expect that we won't get more seasons. But that's just my thought.

I think it might be about Rosa and Andrea's older brother (played by Sung Dong Il)? If so, there's 9 years difference between them haha. But it's just played for laughs in the show.

Hot Stove League is fantastic. I love watching baseball-oriented content. A few years ago I got seriously into baseball anime, watched almost every single one, even though the sport is basically non-existant in my country and I had no idea about the rules xD Actually, anime is my way to go with sports content, but I haven't been keeping up with it as much lately. Sports dramas seem still very few and far between, at least those that caught my interest.
