I can really see that this show had potential to be a story about accepting and loving yourself, going through tough times, being messy even in your 30s and it being okay. About moving on. The FL could really have been one of the greatest female characters in kdrama land. But they turned her into such a pathetic simp it's unbelievable. At some point it stops being "brave" in love and just starts to be foolish and hard to watch. Her mother was right all along.

Same... I want to like the ML but we are given no reason to like him... I hate that the FL spends waay more eps begging him to be with her, than actually falling for him 😭 then there's Isadora and the lawyer, and he seems to have some redeeming qualities but then just digs his own grave. Gosh, the female leads are flawed but at least are likeable and their journey can make you somewhat sympathetic towards them. But the male leads make my skin crawl.

But hers do not look natural 😭 and okay, let her do her, but her image does not fit a historical drama at all :( takes me out of immersion right away

Yes, I agree completely! When the store manager asked for parental consent for him to work there I was like - sir, you have a full-grown adult in front of you, why would you even ask 😭

Hahaha true, and it was a good role, but it was 4years ago and he was playing a junior corporate role, everything fit 😅

Yes, I feel the same. Song Kang is a better fit for his character and you don't feel the age difference as much. And tho I like LJY, I prefer him in bolder roles, like Reborn Rookie. He is def not a bad actor. But he's just not as convincing in timid roles, and especially playing a teenager.

I dunno, I just really don't buy two 30somethings as troubled high school students 😭 especially LJY... I could somewhat believe his role in WHC2, cause he was a confident bully. Here as a timid teenager... No matter how much I like him, I just can't buy it.

I guess what bothered me the most is that the 2ML had barely any story besides his love for the FL. Other than some family drama later on which only made it worse :c

Man I dunno, I'd say love triangle in OBS was the worst part of it...

Before I'd say I'm pumped for OBS's sceenwriter's drama, but Melo Movie was such a disappointment. However, the director usually brings good chemistry and I enjoy her work. Would prefer it wasn't high school setting, but we'll see. I'm optimistic.

Leads in kdramas and cdramas must simply be the purest characters ever. Preferably virgins before they meet the love of their life, too.

At first, I could really sympathise with the the daughter. When you have to fake smiles to the whole world, be it in school or at work, it is easy to let out your frustrations at home, the only place you don't have to pretend to fit in (if you have understanding parents like her). I get it at 14. At 18. At 22 even. But for Christ's sake, she does it at 30 too, and stops only at 35ish after her pregnancy? This is just vile. I couldn't dislike her more. They never expected her to be the breadwinner, so what is she salty about? Didn't she want to study?
You're sad that your parents sold their house to send you to Japan? Maybe don't even consider it and tell them in the first place, when you know how they get. And that it will ruin them financially. Personally, my parents sent me to capital to study, but I wouldn't even consider studying abroad, when we didn't have the means. I was just glad enough for the opportunities I got.

And the son... yeah his sister received more praise. But she did deserve it. Again, I understand bratty behaviour in high school. But knocking up a girl, without a job, and getting into business with shady people, having to be saved time and time again, and still lashing on his parents? I mean they weren't saints, especially Ae Sun, but his dad really doted on him. But the son only remembered bad things.

I honestly believe Ae Sun and Gwan Shik were the best possible parents on that island, with their financial resources and background. They didn't deserve to hear time and time again that their kids don't want to be poor like them.

It's apparently hella big in Korea. Makes sense, as they have a top chip-producer company (Samsung)

Funny how two Itzy members had cameos in similar office revenge dramas: ryujin in Reborn Rookie ans Yuna in Undercover Miss Hong haha. Both dramas are very good btw too

Lee Jun Young's acting in ep 11 was superb. Now I have the urge to watch Love & Leashes again cause wdym, he did two such different roles haha

I love Jae Seong's character development. Even though he made many bad decisions, ultimately he grew from it. I know the main focus is on the relationship between the chairman and Bang Geul, but I hope we will get some father-son interactions in ep 12 as well. Jae Seong deserves an apology from his dad as well.

Unfortunately, the final twist was pretty obvious to me by ep 2 (the roses + the narrator + "I know him from somewhere" scenes). So other than a story about an author falling deeper and deeper into dillusions (which yeah, was somewhat satisfying, i hated him) this show didn't have much to offer to me. Acting was great and so was the music, but apart from that, if you know you're just watching imaginary story, it's not thrilling at all.
