It is because CSS has prejudice already against Yuan Shen since she came to lampion festival. She thinks Scholar Yuan is notorious for playing with women's heart. So she doesn't want to involve with him further. In addition, Yuan is Mr. Huangfu's disciple.

ep 15...so far the most hilarious episode.
I couldn't stop laughing my ass off as Shaoshang, Lou Yao, Bu Yi and Scholar Yuan met coincidentally at the hut.
Scholar Yuan and Bu Yi by all means tried to separate Shaoshang and Lou Yao.
Mr. Huangfu was so immersed in himself that he couldn't see the tension among the young guys around him.

I have jumped to the last ep .....and the ending kinda weird.
Zhai Xing was (predictably) defeated by enemy as she went the battle by herself. Totally suicide.
And then You Wen (after being drugged) came to rescue thus fought the enemy by himself, and he won it.
Had they been together fought the enemy.. maybe in the end they would be still together alive. Or even if they were defeated, they could faced death together. That would be satisfying ending for both parties.

I wonder why I watched this back then. maybe because Ha Ji Won? because I don't really like gisaeng theme drama. And it is kinda tragedy drama. Like, you can't escape the devil's chain.

I think you'll be disappointed if you seek romance in this makjang drama.

Sadly in any culture (especially China), a son is highly prized than a daughter. XYY unconsciously picks a male twin and left the female twin of hers*. Unfortunately her mother in laws not favors any female descendants (XYY should have known about this). She doesn't even spoils Yang Yang who has better attitude towards elder. Instead she pushes Yang Yang's mother to have sons.


*like in movie Aftershock (2010) where the mother decide to save her son instead of her daughter in the earthquake. Both son and daughter have 50:50 chance of survival after getting buried in ruins.
