About Chinese favorability (is it even a word? Lol), it is already exist long tome ago. But for the past ten years, it is more apparent. Have you noticed that to the extent of main leads and supporter roles, if is not lukreung (half caucassian) they will pick Chinese descent. It is not about race, but physical appearance. Chinese descent is blessed with fair complexion and more feminim figure. Now it is extremely rare to find main leads with more south east asian look. I mean, they may be pretty and handsome or photogenic in camera but tanned skin is no no.
