Check out how cute this doll of Reba is:https://www.instagram.com/p/COvfvZ2tyO1/?utm_medium=copy_linkI need one…
OMG, the doll is adorable and I want one too! I love her dress, the hair and the overall look - very Audrey Hepburn (one of my favorite actresses ever!). Did Reba wear it for an award show? Wow, she looked absolutely stunning!

You seriously made an account just to make this comment?!
I don’t agree with her plan to save her father’s general but Ah Sun’s foster mother also willingly helped her because she knew of her relationship with her son. You can make the case his mother was captured because of her plan but she did not cause her death because She Er admitted that he would not have killed her, he just wanted to use her to humiliate Ah Sun. The Khan would also keep her alive because she was the hostage to keep Ah Sun bound to the Ashile tribe. The foster mother chose to end her life (she did cut herself with the sword) because she wanted to free her son from being under the Khan’s thumb and she knew her death was the only way out for him. The foster mother was always a pawn in this power struggle so I don’t get why all the blame was put on Changge’s shoulders when others in this plot also had free will.

Yes, Ah Sun saved her many times and she also saved him too (if you decide to keep watching). She never asked him to save her, he did so because he loved her. Why is it her fault that he puts her life before his own and his tribe? He also had a choice and he chose to protect her. She also tried to persuade him to stay out of this mess. You can criticize her methods but please not her intention. She never intended for others to get hurt. She was prepared to sacrifice her life but she never asked anyone to do so on her behalf. How is that selfish?

Changge's mother! Such a tragic character! My heart hurts for what she went through. All she wanted was for Changge to be safe and happy. Thanks to Ah Sun, that wish can come true!

Are you referring to their reunion in Luoyang? If so, I do agree! What I love most about Ah Sun is just how straight-forward…
Haha!! That look on Ah Sun's face when he saw her being friendly with Shuyu was hilarious. I like how she knew that he was upset but she also seemed puzzled as to WHY he was upset. I know from her perspective that she saw Shuyu as her brother but never considered that Ah Sun might be jealous.

Another scene I enjoyed was when he told her his first wish - for her to be more like a girl. When she responded that was she not feminine enough, he reassured her no, that he just want her to allow him to protect and care for her.

Also, when she was embroidering the rabbit for Leyan's wedding gift and mentioned that she wished her mother was present to see her married (something along those lines), he went ahead (without telling her) and wrote a proposal letter and delivered to her mother's shrine. He made so many heartfelt promises to her mother to always keep her safe and make her happy. All these little things he does for her make their romance so endearing. He never wants to change who she is - all he wants to do is to be there to protect her and support her any way he can.

Was watching ep 14-16, realised they showed Yuan having interest in sword fighting as she liked her wooden sword…
I am always hesitant about sequels because they rarely measure up to the original story. If there were to be a second season, I prefer GeSun to have very limited roles because TLB has a great ending for this couple and any other adventures will probably pale in comparison in my eyes. I want the sequel to focus be on Little Yuan's adventures or be a spin off story with Situ Lang Lang.

I personally like it best without any close interaction. And also i like it with the manga, it is a very smart…
I also personally find the animated drawings distracting especially for epic war scenes. I know this drama is filmed during COVID but there are many intimate scenes between couples and also one-on-one combat so I don't necessary find COVID excuse to be reasonable. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the drama's tribute to the manhua and the author but the intensity of a war scene is hard to capture with animated drawings especially when we have live people before and the switch to drawings is quite jarring. I was hoping for at least one live war scene without the animation. One scene with the animated drawing that I really hate was the dance off at Mobei!! Real dancers were prancing around and then it was cut to animated scenes. What the heck? Finish the dance scene with real people!!

On the side, the King of Mobei is so beautiful. He looks just like an elf in Lord of Rings. :)

Yes, I agree GeSun has more adventures ahead before settling down with a family.

Mujin! Sad for his loss but he's a good man. I hope he can find a good woman who will raise Mimi's brother with him, not that he needs help with child rearing but more so, I hope he can find love again.

True! After reading other people's comments, I had to add a few more to my list. The characters are so well written that it is really hard to choose! I'm done with my list (I think).

Oh yes, another two added to my list after reading yours. Among the Tang ministers, my favorite is Minister Fang. He has this sly look on his face and I'm always curious what he has to say next. His comments can be thoughtful or goading depending on whom he's addressing. Side bar, I'm glad that none of the Tang ministers are conniving or plotting to overthrow their ruler. Another cliche plot is having one evil minister causing havoc in the background but none of that here. All three work together for the greater good!

I also love Li Jing and his scenes with Ah Sun. Such a smart man! There are so many sharp and thoughtful characters in this drama that my favorite characters list keeps growing as I read comments of characters that I forgot. Even minor characters (based on screen time) left a deep impression on me!

Yes, Mr. Qin is also another great supporting character! I appreciate his ability to see the bigger picture and act accordingly. I LOVE the scene where he allows the boys to fight it out. The testosterone was high and the animosity was building for several episodes. IT was great for our viewing pleasure to see them resolve their disagreement with their fists! LOL.

I would think TLB is a strong consideration for the 2021 drama awards. The only drama that might be in competition is Word of Honor as I've read many positives about this drama too. I have not seen it but will probably watch it after I get over my TLB fix (not sure when that will happen). I do hope TLB gets recognized for its efforts.

Also a great list! I did forget to add She Er to the list. I would say She Er has a bigger impact to the main story arc so I would rank his character's importance above Wei Shuyu BUT I do want to defend Shuyu a bit because I have read past comments of his uselessness which is true in terms of his political role. Shuyu is a good character but not used properly. In the drama, he has hardly any political influence as he's a babysitter to Leyan and the Crown Prince or serves as a Tang ambassador near the drama conclusion. He has no romance which limited his role even more. BUT, I do appreciate that the drama did not turn him into the typical vengeful second lead villain who became evil because he did not get Changge. What most dramas would have done is write Shuyu to turn to the dark side because of Changge's rejection, he would use Leyan's feelings for him and marries her to gain more of a political foothold. He then will wield this power to combat against the GeSun couple. That would have been very cliche and thank God that did not happen. I appreciate that he is a realistic man who must make a choice between Changge (his love) or his family. He is filial and chose his family, as Hao Du has done for Minister Du and as Ah Sun for Khan. Love is not the end all for all characters and while Shuyu has regrets but ultimately I think he'll make the same decision if given the same choice again and nothing wrong with that!

Now back to She Er...when I was introduced to this character, I thought he will be the typical villain serving as a foil to Ah Sun but was glad I was proven wrong! His backstory makes him the logical villain choice. (1) He is jealous of Ah Sun for one upping him in the Khan's eyes and is always second when comparing to Ah Sun. (2) His mother is an ambitious woman and he loves his mother and probably would have agreed to her plans and (3) the woman he loves is in love with another man, which is typically the instigator for many male characters' descent to evil. I am delighted that the writers gave this character more layers and that although he's in competition with Ah Sun, he also loves him as a brother.

It's nice to witness characters, especially supporting characters, making the right choices when they are presented with moral dilemmas as described above.

Yes, you elaborated on the many strengths of Situ Lang Lang perfectly! His ability to read the situation and protect Changge is very inline with a greater master. I also enjoy his camaraderie with the famous physician. It's a perfect combo of helping others when they are needed. I think a spin-off drama of this character can be quite compelling.

Yes! One more scene of precious Yuan with Situ Lang Lang. I do want to say I like the unexpected twist that she became his disciple. The predictable outcome would have been GeSun adopting her since she has connections to both characters.

For the many fans here, we’re crazy about the main leads (deservedly so)! Just curious, of the supporting characters,…
I have so many and I think the fact that the supporting characters are so well written makes TLB such a strong, memorable drama. My favorite supporting characters are:

Governor Gongsun Heng – I know he’s probably not on the top of many people’s list but I just love this character. The Shou State arc is my favorite part of the drama and his selfless character really resonates with me. His impact on Changge’s perspective and consideration of the greater good is so noteworthy and serves as a true turning point for her.

A'Dou – I love this character for his unrelenting support towards Changge during a period that she felt so alone. I was heartbroken when he died. ☹

Li Shimin – It’s always nice to witness a wise and capable ruler. I have seen too many dramas where the ruler is incompetent. I enjoyed all his scenes with Changge. I love his smarts, his love and affection towards Changge but he can also be ruthless when he needs to be.

Shiba/Xu Feng – They are my second favorite couple and I love their dynamic. To be honest, they are not as interesting separately but together they are really cute.

Little Yuan – I just love that little actress. She’s so cute and I love her scenes, doesn’t matter who is carrying her at the moment.

Situ Lang Lang – I like the light-heartedness his character provides in the drama. He’s interesting and somewhat mysterious. It might be interesting to do a spin-off series of his character.

Yay! So wonderful to read that the GeSun couple is receiving accolades for their pairing! Both Reba and Leo received so much opposition once they were announced as the FL and ML. It's wonderful that their portrayal and romance resonated with many viewers! Well deserved!

Are you referring to their reunion in Luoyang? If so, I do agree! What I love most about Ah Sun is just how straight-forward he is. He does not shy away from expressing his feelings to Changge. He's possessive of her and acts jealous (towards Shuyu); he wants to go with her to meet her mother (it's cute that they hold hands when they visit her) and expresses his intention to marry Changge to everyone. He openly admits that he loves and respects her and allows her the freedom to be herself, never trying to limit her or put her in a traditional female role. He understands her on so many levels. It is just swoon-worthy how forward thinking this man is in treating his woman. IMO, GeSun is definitely relationship goals for all couples!

Fair enough. I won’t comment further as there is a lot of back and forth on this subject already from previous threads. Which couple has a better love story is subjective and I will leave it at that.
