Novel Spoilers: For those wondering, novel has HE but not before the male lead suffers tragedy after tragedy. It's like the author wanted male lead to experience all sad things in life. This book was literally a whole list of ML's grievances. One particular tragedy was unexpected and threw me off the rails.
And to be 100000% honest, this is definitely a form of incest relationship even though they are not blood related. The ML literally was there for FL's birth. They bathed together as children (because they are siblings...). She lived 18 years believing that he was her blood brother. Even as adults, they mention A LOT about their childhood and their sibling relationship. There was even a quote where ML thinks about how he practically raised her.
ALL THAT BEING SAID, I ate this book up because it's a fictional world so I was perfectly okay turning a blind eye. Especially because they do make it up to you on whether or not you can justify things - FL is a consenting adult, they haven't seen each other in almost a decade. FL & ML start dating when she is 19 but they literally only last 1 week as a couple before tragedy strikes. They don't do anything intimate until they get back together when FL is age 28 (or was it 26? I forget).
Reading this novel was a mistake. It ripped my heart into shreds so many times. I am so scared to watch this drama. I’m scared I’ll feel disappointed which is ironic since I binge read this novel cause the trailer was so good
Raised together as siblings until age 9, separated when parents divorced, she learns they are not biologically…
Tbh I’m reading the novel and it is 100% incestuous. They even bathed together as children and there are many quotes in the novel that shows how much of a brother/sister bond they had as little kids. He even thinks that he practically raised her himself.
BUT I am all for it since this is in a fictional universe and I don’t mind separating reality from fiction. 😂🩵
There are 2 female leads in this drama. GJL ends up with HYP (Jenny Zhang), whereas LQZ (Li Qin) ends up with…
I feel like GJL ending up unmarried and without kids was lowkey karma for cheating on LQZ, tho of course he became a great friend to LQZ and great uncle to Yingying too.
In fact, since a lot of scenes are indoors, they are mostly using realtime audio from the set... only the few outdoor scenes are dubbed by the actors themselves 😭
Mom is quite something… sister two just lost her husband and mom feels so resentful about having to help take care of her own grandson for two months?? And it has only been two months and you are already talking to sister two about remarrying? I’m so annoyed
