The emperor's hatred for him stems from the death of his favorite wife, the empress and paternal aunt of Chu Guihong,…
She is not Nan Heng's mom. Nan Heng's mom is from the Gao family. The empress is surnamed Chu, and is Chu Guihong's aunt. Actually, even though the eighteenth prince is Chu Guihong's cousin, I don't remember anymore if they mentioned the empress was his mom so I'll edit my previous comment.

Depends on what u mean by "safe"
Then, no, this is not reverse-harem. If anything, the ML would probably end up getting jealous of himself.

The ML once cheated on her with her sister, and she has a fiance who is not the ML. Is that safe enough for you? If you're looking for a Virgin Mary FL, then perhaps you should look elsewhere.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
This is all true and she does go by the old storyline however, the fact that she’s not even listening to what…
While it really sucks to be misunderstood, it makes sense with her superficial understanding of his character. His actions then further cemented her bias against him. There's no way for her to know that the script is changing, when she only knows that she transmigrated into the original script. She realizes that she has changed some things, but as you can see, she's restricted to the main plot points, such as when she can't marry Chu Guihong. Nan Heng can't kill her right now because the plot hasn't reached the part where she's supposed to die yet. She's still trying to figure out the limits and restrictions in this world. To be fair, the ML barely revealed much to her when defending himself since he's supposed to be Li Shiliu so it's understandable that he can't say too much. It's easy for the audience to say that she should listen and understand him better when we can see his memories on the events that happened, but she doesn't know all of that. Plus, she actually did try to reflect that perhaps there could be another side to Nan Heng, but that thought was immediately snuffed when the Qianyu troops showed up after getting severely injured and accused Nan Heng as the person who set the trap because it was where Yao Qian's body was found. However, only the audience knows that Nan Heng did not order Yao Qian to petition against Chu Guihong, therefore he should not be the person who ordered to kill him too. I put my suspicions on Nan Heng's uncle, and that he is likely the one doing all the bad things while Nan Heng takes the blame. The FL was self-absorbed at first because to her, none of these characters are real people. But at the end of episode 8, she confessed to Li Shiliu that after the dancer almost died because of her, the people in this world started to feel more real to her. In her perspective, if Nan Heng continues to fight with Nan Rui for the throne, everyone else will become collateral damage, so she'd rather off him first before it can happen. Killing a prince is a crime, but killing any person is a crime, just as how he tried to kill her, let alone he's a prince that the emperor openly dislikes. It wouldn't make sense for her to suddenly have mercy for someone who wants her dead. Either way, we're just at the beginning of this drama. I'm sure there will be character development, and she will soon come to realize that he's the one taking the blame for a lot of things. But that will first require Nan Heng to want to open up to her, which will probably happen after he interacts with her more as Li Shiliu.

Does the ML ever start to like the FL genuinely?
Probably after his interactions with her when he's Li Shiliu.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
I’m absolutely loving this story so far! But now, it's time to dive deeper into the real plot... because the…
The emperor's hatred for him stems from the death of his favorite wife, the empress and paternal aunt of Chu Guihong, whom he believes died from something the ML did. With the ML's reputation as a bloodthirsty and ruthless killing machine, the emperor is also afraid of his power as a general with military authority. This is why he was sent to guard the borders far away from the capital until war with an enemy kingdom started. Plus, the emperor feels that he does not have absolute authority over the ML since the ML has precedent of not listening to his orders/imperial edicts.

I find the ML's uncle suspicious, since he ordered Yao Qian to do something against what the ML ordered.

Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
To ppl thinking she's too harsh with Nan Heng - He literally tried to kill her several times and in the script…
Agree. The FL even admitted that she skimmed the script so she only knew the main plot points, which is why she has a surface-level understanding of his character. It also didn't help that he tried to kill her many times after she transmigrated into the script. In my opinion, the scene where she named all of Nan Heng's "misdeeds" to him while he's Li Shiliu is set up as a means to provide the ML with information because it seems he is not aware of the severity of the rumors circulating about him. From the way he tried to defend himself by providing his perspective of his battles, it only proves to us as the audience that he gave his all to win his battles when the odds were stacked against him. But to the other people in their world, everything that happened - good or bad - were all probably part of his plans. This is why he later says something along the lines of, "Oh I see now, so anything terrible that happens can all be blamed on me." If anything, I feel like these scenes are serving the purpose to have us start to pity the ML as someone who's been misunderstood.

Did I miss something or am I not following? So the first episode she kept dying but all of a sudden she cannot…
She kept dying in the first episode because she was trying to forcibly go against the script - where she's supposed to beg her dad and run away from her marriage - by proceeding with her marriage with Chu Guihong. Now, she's been sent further up the timeline, half a year before her marriage date. However, the rules or setting of this world is still strictly adhering to the main plot points written by the scriptwriter, and at this point the FL is supposed to fall in love with the ML. Since she changed a small part of the plot, the ML developed the idea to silence her, but because of the rules of this world, he cannot kill her ahead of time.

Where can I watch the previews of next episodes?
You can go to iqiyi's website, iqiyi.com and click into the drama's homepage. It'll load ep 1 automatically, so just click ep 9 on the sidebar and it'll load a commercial before the preview starts.

Is it me of the opening OST gives tons of vibes from Love Between Fairy and Devil’s OST.Already shazammed it…
The opening song is sang by Faye, the singer who also sang 决爱 for LBFAD, so maybe that's why you're getting a similar vibe.

LLH saw Concubine Xuan's intact corpse in Yipin Tomb though. He would've recognized her if he was her son. I didn't…
LLH and FDB read Concubine Xuan's letter to her subordinate surnamed Feng asking him to meet her son at an assigned place and take him away to safety. She was Princess Longxuan of Nanyin prior to marrying over, so yes, that would make her son a descendant of Nanyin royalty. They also mentioned that her son has a birthmark that the Feng descendant, now the leader of Wansheng Clan, used to identify SGD as Concubine Xuan's son. Whether that's a fluke or not, the details given are still vague. They didn't show any flashbacks of LLH's family until recently, so you could be right that he might have forgotten his past. It's almost near the end yet LLH's history is so mysterious. I really look forward to the reveal.

Wait till SGD finds out he isn't the royal son they thought he was. I think it is Li Xiang Yi who was the son…
LLH saw Concubine Xuan's intact corpse in Yipin Tomb though. He would've recognized her if he was her son. I didn't look too closely at her face at that time, so I can't remember if she is the same woman in his recent flashback of his mother pushing him and SGD(?) out the door to save their lives when his family was murdered.

I think he's a new character. He looks like the actor who played the disciple in love with his master, one of the elders in Xueyue City, in 'The Blood of Youth'.

The poison altered his appearance. Iirc he became more 'plain looking'. I can't remember the exact words, but the monk told him that when he saved his life.

Thought I'd try it out, and breezed through 10 episodes. Even though the episodes are short, the plot is interesting enough. Acting is much better than some other mini dramas I've tried to watch; there's no overacting nor cringeworthy scenes so far. Worth checking out for those who like investigation dramas and looking for something light.
