10 for the super cute and emotional ending episodes, but 7.0 overall for the dragging and all the side plots. It tries to tackle many problems but in the end, only a few managed to do their part well enough to be memorable. The female lead is super indecisive and you will have to be really patient with this girl or I'm afraid you will not survive the love triangle. Just a warning but you wouldn't necessarily feel satisfied with how the female lead makes decisions most of the time. Also her change in character after the unrequited love with Hwashin felt unnatural. People don't change from reserved to carefree, talkative that fast (?).
One good thing about this drama is I got to watch Jo Jungseok. What a man.
I feel uncomfortable watching this movie because Youngwoo's character is still a huge question and he makes everything unnecessarily complicated. His behavior from start to finish never seems stabilized and for that he just made me feel as crazy as Jaeha. Maybe Youngwoo is not normal after all. I got why they tag this with "psychological" now. I couldn't enjoy the mediocre "depth" especially the ending parts but I would give this a 7/10 for the overall setting and unique (?) story line. This was complicated in somewhat a bad way.
Right after the movie ended, I came here and gave it a 9 because of the excellent acting and because I thought this movie was deep. But then after two days (which is today) I have to give it a 6 because of the lack of character development, except for the King. This is also the primary reason how the movie turns out so ambiguous. It's hard to side the King or Hong Lim because the only character we can truly interpret is the King. Should have shown more story between the King and Hong Lim as well as Hong Lim and the Queen, or I would forever interpret Hong Lim and the Queen's relationship as pure impulsive lust. And that might be right, because I read in Wiki the director even said that this is a LOVE story between men. Jo Insung is still a superb actor here. I never knew Joo Jinmoo until now but he's equally fantastic. Jihyo's character is not developed fully so she just showed well what she's given.
There was a weird plot point where at the end, a woman's discarded head hung with the sachet managed to trick Hong Lim into thinking that it was indeed the Queen's head. How??? The ending was badly concluded because of that. This is such a potential story and the tragedy was uncalled for.
I was literally drooping my eyes from episode 12 (or somewhere around) till 20 and my sister, who watched it with me went: - You wanna watch this or no? - Sorry I'm really sleepy. Let's pause for ten minutes. Then ten minutes later, I woke up to see that she was asleep next to me. ... - Sis, you wanna watch this or no? She grunted, annoyed and still asleep XD
No offense, but I can't relate with the positive comments. The events from the very start were too surreal to take in. The romance is badly done (note that I'm only half-way through so). The story processes so slowly and the events are unremarkable.
The current top reviews are highly accurate and helpful.
What's the closest comparison to any dramas anyone has watched? I wanna try it, but I'm afraid to waste time.
My sincere advice is to waste time on something else. The story is barely believable. There is no solid message that the writer wants to deliver whatsoever. The romance (although most might disagree with me) is dull/ boring because the plot itself is really faulty. The ratings for this drama feels like a joke to me. 8.7??? The current top reviews are quite biased considering they also said that it's simple and the plot is unbelievable. As for comparison, I can't come up with anything to be honest ^^' it's unique but in a bad way. anyways, sorry for my bad English.
Just re-watched this drama in two days and it was still so good. I guess I'm really into super romantic things. Aside from that, the MAIN (because Han Dongmin is so damn abusive and self-centered I want to kick his ass) characters are well-established; I especially love whenever Boong Do speaks *hearty eyes* Anyways, I got why I gave this a 9.5 in the past. Still won't change the score because the ending is not satisfying enough (questions remained unanswered) even though it did pretty well with everything else.
On a side note, Yoo In Na's acting is great until you get to her crying scenes; no emotional attachment to her whatsoever whenever she cries ;___;
Wait, what? I don't get it, people are saying he loved her as she was before, but then what's the explanation…
I think he didn't realize his true feelings for her and initially he really just saw her as a tool. as you know, who would have thought they actually developed feelings for an ugly person. Not sure if you still need an answer now that it's already been 1 moth lol
the romance part of the show is complicated (in a bad way imo), the plot is predictable after the villain appears, plus a few small confusions here and there... there are many funny/ cute scenes though and the last episode got me in tears. this show is enjoyable, but I can't say I loved it. 7.0
um is this really one of the hit movies in its year? I can't relate. no offense to the amazing cast (Yoo Ah-in and Hwang Jung-min) but the plot is quite boring for a box office monster like this one, esp. towards the end. I expected so much on the character development but Yoo Ah-in's character really has no supporting backstory. It was funny at some points and I see the entertainment in it, but not for the plot which is the heartbeat of any movie to be honest. The mystery to the case was interesting in the second-half, sad thing it doesn't help much with the negativities.. 6/10.
I give a 9 for this movie. Great message delivered. Heart-wrenching. only minus 1 point because of the predictable outcomes. but the pace and the progress were well done. It was really worth the watch.
aside from some unanswered problems (aka plot holes if I'm not mistaking anything), this was a good movie, with a plot twist not that surprising but still thrilling, which lives up to its genre. 8 for its plot and for the over all rating. PS: one of the main problems to this movie, is that the original motive is kind of nuh-uh (forced and not very realistic tbh). Also, it would be so much greater if either they don't show anything at all, or develop fully on the daughter's character, not (imo) half-assing it. it feels incomplete.
I gave it a 10. maybe I have enjoyed it so much, I didn't mind the overused scenes. It was definitely a meaningful story.
(my first time watching erotic genre, and definitely a good choice of mine)
finished in two days.. this is the best slice-of-life drama I have ever watched! (not like I have watched a lot of the same genre, but I know it).
I had doubts about this show because of the ratings in Korea... Korea what were you watching instead of swag Bokjoo dang it
