"Homosexuality isn't right", that's the movie. If you can bear this surprise you may want to watch just to see…
Hello. Your comment prompted me to watch the movie, which I had been intent on doing so for quite some time. In my view, the movie doesn't have a negative view on homosexuality. It does deal with stigma and prejudice, as well as its consequences, reminding us that much still needs to be fought in order for things to change.
Okay so apologies to anyone and everyone who might have loved this show. I really don't want to spread hate or…
Your comment resonated with me, particularly the part where you speak of adopting the "American mindset". Were it not for the attempt at boycotting the series from conservative groups, I probably would not have watched it. As it is, I've been meaning to make a statement, by subscribing to platforms and watching it there. I'm not overly fond of material, of whatever nature, where sexuality is treated in a more 'in-your-face' way. It's a personal taste. But while I can see comparisons with American series, with its blatant treatment of sexuality, I'd vouch for Love in the Big City being a different sort of series. I've just finished episode 6, and it's a complex work of art. While it includes sex, it's not only about that. As I watched this and other episodes, I found myself thinking that this is a series that deals with multiple dimensions of its characters, not only the sexual dimension.
I think cultural differences, as well as aesthetic, perhaps even ethical ones, are still very much in place. Much as it's trying to open new spaces, in doing this toeing a very fine line.
But the show has heart and hope, I think.
That being said, I'd like to underline again how I can empathize with your feelings.
