Update: I’m dumb and accidentally missed the “bonus scene” right at the end. Can confirm that the awkwardness…
Sidenote: Any recommendations for good BL airing now? I’m screaming crying shaking waiting for Pit Babe to start airing this month (please don’t get delayed pleasepleaseplease), but other than that my watch list is so dry…
Shockingly enough I mostly enjoyed the finale! Part 1 had the best acting in the entire series so far - Name setting…
Update: I’m dumb and accidentally missed the “bonus scene” right at the end. Can confirm that the awkwardness has indeed hit 🥲 Poor Perth, if he was paired with almost anyone else that would have been so hot… 😔🙏 The idea of Sailom being an escort when he kisses like a dead fish is LAUGHABLE. It’s like the way a little kid acts when family come over for Christmas and some old auntie or grandma wants kisses. I really truly can’t understand it… He’s an actor? Playing opposite another actor, who is gorgeous and incredibly talented and willing to put 200% of the effort in? And they would have done chemistry workshops specifically to feel more comfortable about acting as a couple? And they would have filmed multiple takes of each scene, with a professional director directing them? And the editors looked at all of the takes, and decided that the final edit was good enough to include as a special, bonus, entirely unneccesary extra as a treat for the fans? And it’s STILL THAT AWKWARD, AND THAT UNCOMFORTABLE TO WATCH??? HOW??????
Shockingly enough I mostly enjoyed the finale! Part 1 had the best acting in the entire series so far - Name setting Saifah up to take the blame for the shooting, Saifah crying while apologising to Kang’s dad, Saifah and Name holding hands through the prison railings, Kang crying when his dad wakes up… All of that was SO well done!! Perth is obviously bestboy in most of our hearts for a reason, he really knocks it out the park in any high-emotion scene. But I do think Name/Saifah stole the show here as the REAL Dangerous Romance!! I’m desperate for Pepper and Papang to star in a more grown up series together, they’re both amazing!
After part 1 it kind of meanders off into the same old mundane school drama. Not painfully dull, not as much of a slog to get through as previous episodes, but still a little meh. Guy/Nawa’s scene was very cute but ultimately a little forgetable for me. The GL pairing fizzled into nothing, which I’m actually grateful for because student/teacher is a huge ick. The rest of it was vaguely heartwarming teen slice-of-life filler… Except for that DAMN UMBRELLA SCENE.
I KNEW the umbrellas were going to come back, and I KNEW they’d make some massively clichéd big deal out of it, like it was *fate* that some kid gave some other kid an umbrella a decade ago… It was just SO jarringly cheesy and melodramatic and contrived compared to how mellow the vibes were from the rest of the episode after part 1. Why was it suddenly cloudy and pouring with rain on a day that had perfect weather in every other scene… Why was Kang standing in the rain and sulking after his little graduation speech got so much applause… Why is Sailom supposed to be so intelligent and sarcastic and grounded and is now throwing about lines like “Oh, would I still like you if you’re poor? Well, look at this really old umbrella that looks suspiciously new. Does that answer your question?” NO IT DOESN’T, GO BACK INSIDE!! By classic BL standards Kang should have been back in the hospital for another week after standing in the rain like that!!
…Sigh. Anyway. Final thought of this show is that I’m glad they filmed the big finale kiss scene from so far away and with such strong lighting. I was waiting for the awkwardness to hit, and it DIDN’T, because I couldn’t actually see what was happening. Best directorial decision of the whole show so far.
I’d rate the finale episode as 7/10, and the series overall 5.5/10 (would’ve been 6 if those godforsaken umbrella’s didn’t crop back up)
I see we’re also getting Flashbacks 2: Return Of The Flashbacks this episode, what a treat
SUN & SOLARPANEL 💀💀💀 Incredible!!! I wonder what their plot would be… Long lost lovers? Werewolves cursed to never go out at night, hense the sun theme?? Long lost lover werewolves??? 😮
I see we’re also getting Flashbacks 2: Return Of The Flashbacks this episode, what a treat
HA okay okay if that’s the case I’m adding Sweet First Love to my watchlist 🙏 Two main characters called Water and Waterwheel, childhood sweethearts, love at first sight, slowly being consumed by passion to the point of madness which prompts a long series of violent crimes in honour of their derranged love 🤤👌 The BL Bonnie & Clyde that we deserved all along
You are dumb if you do not know . It's clear he wants to kill him since he wakes up he will be hunting them all…
Genuinely curious, DID they get robbed when Kang’s dad was shot?? I don’t remember anything mentioned about robbery (although I’ve been watching at 1.5 speed so could have totally missed that!)
They really just used Pimfah for some "angst" and decided her character or her feelings don't matter anymore.
LITERALLY!!! Kang’s dad got shot, the whole school is gossiping about it, and she’s just chilling and eating lunch with Auto and the gang 🫠 Honestly same though
I see we’re also getting Flashbacks 2: Return Of The Flashbacks this episode, what a treat
Final thoughts! Name is too pretty to be in a gang (god that man is gorgeous).
Also Kang showing up on his bike to save Sailom did make my heart flutter a bit ngl, but I still don’t believe that they’re in love… Even if we completely disregard chemistry it just doesn’t make sense to me. I get that they’re fickle teenagers in a super dramatic situation and their feelings are flipflopping about, but if Kang is going to hate Sailom and then love him and then hate him and then love him they need to ACKNOWLEDGE THAT instead of pretending they’ve been in love the whole time regardless of what either character has said or done at any point in time. It just comes across as ingenuine to me…
Also also, if after all this they bring up the umbrella thing in the finale like “wow, I never knew it was YOU I gave my spare umbrella to as a child, I guess it’s fate and also proof that we were meant to fall in love all along” I will legit walk into the ocean
This episode has definitely become my favorite so far, and it's all thanks to Perth's incredible acting. I can't…
You’re sooooo right about Perth having incredible presence when he’s angry!! I think that’s half of why the chemistry didn’t feel so dire in the first few episodes when Kang was bullying Sailom, that underlying rage at being beaten as his own game made up for it 100% 😙👌
Just saw a video of Zee and Nunew performing Phantom Of The Opera on stage in the campest little feathery outfits and it was literally the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life, so I’m retroactively taking back anything negative I’ve ever said about this show, it’s a 10/10 now. Amazing incredible showstopping one of a kind etc etc 🙏
Although they are behaving like I expect teenagers would do with a lot of money and no adult supervision, I thought…
Totally agreed, Sailom came down with a hard case of plot-contrived-stupid this episode. Wasting money and gambling with thugs?? Huh??? Maybe he hit his head inbetween scenes and is suffering from a concussion.. Explains why he’d switch so quickly from being freaked out by the idea of hugging in a bed to whatever the implications of that last scene are 🫣
