Yeah it’s tragic, especially when Chimon really isn’t a bad actor. He’s fully believable as Sailom, it’s just that fight-or-flight kicking in when anything romantic happens 🥲 It feels like an extra shame for Perth too, he’s so GOOD he just needs another shot with someone who can match up to his energy

10000%! 😭 Perth is PRETTY (though I wish they’d stop putting him in giantic half-buttoned blouses when he’s supposed to be dressed up like a rich bad boy, like is that just a super trendy thing in Thailand that I’m not getting??? or are they literally just oversize blouses??) and he’s got such deep expressive eyes that are kind of hypnotic during the (few) more intense moments. I KNOW if I was looked at like that I’d be feeling something, but every time he leans in Chimon either goes full statue mode like he’s about to be hit by a football and it’s too late to dodge, or like he’s about to pull a classic “WOAH HEY you know this has been great, such a fun time, but I JUST remembered my mom asked me to head home early and… deep clean the oven? This is a very well articulated analysis, and I think you're 100% right about Mizuki being the worse communicator! Yoh's miscommunication seems to come from genuine confusion and lack of confidence - He doesn't know where he stands, he doesn't know how much he matters. But Mizuki isn't at all confused about his feelings, his trouble seems to come from the fact that he doesn't even KNOW he's miscommunicating, he thinks their entire situation and his feelings for Yoh should be obvious based on the life they've built together... SIGH, these boys!! Sidenote - I love learning new words and oculesics was definitely a fun one to stumble across in a BL drama comment section! *o*

Praying it was a directing choice and the rest of the show improves 🙏 But even if it was, the director and the editors need to have a loooooong chat… If it really was supposed to be awkward, why were the flashbacks and the background music and all the close ups trying to sell it as a big romantic moment? Sigh… I guess we’ll never know 🥲 Onwards to episode 7!

Exactly!! Another thing I can’t wrap my head around (with this show specifically but also tonnes of others) is that when they were filming they must have done multiple takes of the kiss scene so the editors can choose the best one… Was it that awkward in ALL of them?? Were the other takes WORSE? What was the director DOING during all of that??? You’d think somebody could have piped up and said “okay guys we’re looking a little tense, how about a 5 minute break and then we can try again with less tension at the end?”
God the flashbacks feel so patronising… “Look viewers, they’re kissing! This is important because of these 15 other scenes you’ve already watched, but we don’t trust you to remember any of them so we’ll show them to you AGAIN, during the kiss scene, even though you’ve already seen all of them twice in just this episode. Wouldn’t want you to forget the entire story. Or who the characters are. Or why they do things. So we’ll just keep showing you again and again in case you forget. This is how good story telling works, you’re welcome.” 💀

There’s been one that’s been bopping around in my head for DAYS while I tried to remember the name, but there’s a Japanese BL movie called Takumi Kun 4: Pure with a ML who’s quite possessive like Mizuki. It’s from 2010 so it’s not really “good” by the BL standards now, but I remember enjoying it when I was an angsty teen, and there’s one super satisfying kiss scene towards the end 👀👌

He asked to be in control and was granted permission, Yoh chose this, it’s not like was kidnapped and chained to a wall. Maybe my standards for fictional guys in a setting like this are skewed, but I don’t see how he’s sadistic…
2023 has been a sea of (mostly) bland BL so far, until finally I gave this a try, and wow! It’s intoxicating!! Japan does these morally grey, gently screwed up relationships better than anywhere else, and they’re so hypnotic when they’re done right. Haven’t enjoyed a BL this much since Utsukushii Kare, obsessed!!! 🙏
Can’t decide in my head who would be a good casting choice for Binghe, it just seems impossible… Needs to be someone sweet looking with big sad eyes to be baby-Binghe, but also someone big and imposing with a strong aura for when he goes demon-mode… Is there anyone who could do BOTH?
I’m late to the party and just finished ep 1, thought maybe the comments would have been a bit exaggerated but NO the vibes really are that bizarre… Plus with all those weird camera shots in part 4 that make it look like you’re peeking at them through the crack in the door, it’s somehow extra uncomfortable to watch 😬 I can’t put my finger on it, I don’t even think it’s acting because I’ve enjoyed BLs that were much worse. But the craziest thing is, why am so I eager for episode 2??
