That’s why viewers must focus in the whole story ,not in one genre only. This kind of way really harms the entire show. It doesn’t mean that we neglect what we want in the drama but in terms of rating, it must based on the content and quality of the plot not because you are not satisfied in one part of it.

The frustration from the others is that many viewers see this drama as a romantic thing instead of understanding the whole plot and life of the leads. Instead of simply commenting that they prefer a high level of romance, some viewers have given it a low rating and dropped it, which affect the other viewers.
As a big fan of historical dramas, we are lucky that we have this kind of romance. Actually, it has almost the same amount as in the others. It's just that this has a unique plot, hence more understandable and realistic.
I did the same. I really enjoyed this drama as well. 9/10 for me.
I learned my lessons. It’s a struggle for me to finish drama whenever I read some ending spoilers especially if i don’t like it. But i don’t want to that in this drama. Best decision ever.
Everyone did a great job, especially Chen Du Ling as Han Yan. Even though everyone is criticizing Yun Xi, for me , he did a great job. Remember, guys, he has many problems to deal with. You expect him to be a Prince Charming without flaws? What a joke... He was a mortal that had a limited number of resources and a family to protect. His acting is so stiff? Jeez... Can you be a happy and good goody with that kind of situation? And both of them are plotting against each other; of course, they will not show affection but just read between their actions.
There are lots of great scenes, but what I love the most is the scene of Yun Xi and Han Yan in prison. Those confessions were so eye-tearing. I love those two.
I don't get why some hated the previous episode after her marriage. Han Yan needs to have connections in the higher-ups. Yun Xi is demoted, and she cannot do anything without the intervention of the consort. It's not a filler; she cannot meet the consort directly since there are lots of problems in the palace itself.
In regards to Han Yan's manipulation of Yun Xi, she is desperate after how her mother died. The girl is hurting. Yun Xi manipulates her many times. As her maid said, she was upset. But she didn't intend to hurt everyone; hence the divorce paper.
Not everyone will live in this kind of situation. Or maybe I am used to watching many tragic historical dramas. :)
This is why I love this drama. It's kind of realistic. Not everyone will forgive the people that used and manipulated her. Yun Xi knows that. But I also love that he ignored her a little.
We are almost at the end. Misunderstanding is already resolved. They are united. The only thing that is left is Yun Xi’s sickness. I think he was poison also when his wife died. He just get a little dose of poison but he is killing him slowly. So the antidote will be in the hands of Shi Yang since he offer it to Xi wen.

Ahhh. Yun Xi.. You and your sarcasm to Han Yan never fails to impress me..😆😆
