Honestly, I don’t think it’s that intentional. Sadly, in this industry, 30+ is considered old, especially if you’re a woman. Most working actors are under 30 and get a lot of the work for fantasy dramas. So, naturally, a successful actress like Yang Mi who is still working and has built up such a high reputation for herself, will end up working with the new and much younger pool of actors entering the industry. She’s a veteran now who hasn’t retired and really shouldn’t.
Okay, no, if this has a happy ending, no matter how tragic the process to get there is, this is getting 9.5 stars solid from me 100% and it'll be the best drama of the year for me.
