On one hand I'm a bit amazed they managed to stretch this to 32 episodes. On the other hand that was one of my main complaints. There was no need for this to be longer than 16.
For the length of the show, they could have spent a lot more time developing all of the side characters and stories more.
1st half was better than the 2nd half. The way this show played out reminded me of Princess Wei Young in that the 2nd half was essentially the same plot as the 1st half with a new antagonist in the 2nd half.

It can definitely get a bit confusing. But it is worth it. There are 70-something episodes. It also starts quite slow in building the world and watching the leads grow up. Doesn't start getting really good until episode 20 or so.
C dramas are pre-produced and go through the censors. There is no extending them with new content.
If you check the official Youtube channel though they were releasing the same content, but one of the playlists will have episodes that have overlapping content. That is probably the 79 length one.
This show is just the best. The first 15-20 episodes were really slow building backstory and focusing on the main characters separately while they were growing up. But since they began to interact more as grownups the story has been excellent.
This drama comes across as a poor or lazy attempt at imitating the success of "W" with a similar plot. I personally felt like the plot fell off episode 6 or so. And then a relationship was rushed and thrown in for the sake of it. Otherwise how else would they justify have PSH in the show? Her role had no purpose otherwise.

My only complaint is Lee Dong Wook's haircut. They should have gone Hotel King.
