haha i did hear it's been too long since he did romance so i'm feeling extremely lucky and blessed to be witnessing him flex his romantic microexpressions here! i haven't seen him in anything yet (TFP is on my watchlist but i'm waiting for s2 so i can watch it back to back) and apparently his last proper romance was years ago. but man he's really built for this – i'm feeling my heart flutter a lot here even with the little amount of romance we're actually getting! let's hope the universe grants us a romance with him soon, in any form possible bc now i'm craving to see it for sure.

i thought about how it's a bit sad seeing some call the ml weak or dumb — i get it's the impression he might give on the surface – but in retrospect though i guess those people can call themselves lucky they can't relate to him, that they've never experienced the type of soul-crushing loneliness or depression that he's going through. when you've been beaten down by life this much, especially with an introverted personality, you just naturally come across as aloof, uncaring and numb. one sets up a wall between themselves and other people that serves as a natural protection from any further hurt or possible disappointment, because the heart that's already broken wouldn't be able to bear any more. so if you've never had to go through that, then that's a great thing! and no one deserves to go through that. although it's nice that we have stories like this, with the characters carrying their misery out in the open and on their sleeve, inviting the audience to empathize with them.
i swear this drama has me in a chokehold LMAO i keep thinking about it – it's the first time i'm captivated by a melodrama like this but there's just something about this one. i can't wait for the leads to heal each other and if (the chances are slim ik) they don't get a happy ending at the end i don't know if i could recover from it 😭
np – we'll get through it somehow haha. i know what she did is horrible but i'm actually hoping the drama does something interesting with her character at least. like if you gotta introduce the ex-gf then let her have her own arc in the story that doesn't revolve around trying to get back with the ml. i'm mostly annoyed with those characters when their sole purpose is to introduce conflict but write them well and even i can tolerate them ^^

yeah, it's obvious they're not on good terms and even if dong jin didn't speak up to his mother min young could have told his mom off just as well. unless his mom was sending hitmen after her i don't know why she just yielded and felt like moving to another country and lying to him would be best solution. it's clear there was miscommunication on her side too.
just watched the character trailer for minyoung and there are some interesting lines.
"i didn't get married. i've been alone in america the whole time." (dong jin's mom asking) "do you have any money? only about 10 million won." “i was afraid that my whole life would be shaken up because of your mother. i was scared.” (not sure if i translated this one correctly) "but with one word everything could have been fine. you didn't say a word until the end."
sooo things are def not as black and white as they seemed, she didn't get married and instead made the whole thing up to escape his mother? she must have really bothered her for her to pull all of this jeez 😭 and it seems like she is lamenting the fact that if dong jin had done anything about it back then, things would've turned out differently (we now know he isn't exactly a confrontational person). obviously none of that excuses whatever she did, and even if no marriage she probably still did cheat on him. it'll be interesting to see how things will turn out for her.
ooooh no i have the exact same one, i just mentioned it since it's like the most well known "example". it's definitely annoying though how the western media acted as if it's the cream of the crop when it comes to korean dramas just because it's the only thing they know that became popular enough. it's quite mediocre imo
yah they're missing out for sure. i guess the reputation korean media has over there is that it's "female oriented" due to kpop boy groups being popular and people thinking korean dramas are just cheesy romances. maybe you should try showing them smth like squid game, then they'll be enlightened 😂
yeah i think they just saw some good locations in latvia that would fit the 1900s vibe. oh it's fine dw, i'm a girl in my twenties and it's definitely not weird to watch and follow korean dramas lol. you're probaby from a place where korean content isn't super well known? if anthing your friends are the weird ones for thinking it's awkward to like such stuff just because it's from a different country. and if they're judging you because of your gender, then they're being close-minded because it has absolutely nothing to do with that. it's just a hobby like any other, not any different than being into american movies. your friends are just being lame so ignore them and like whatever you want ✌️

OH i definitely did. because we all know how van has viewed himself until now, just an episode before he said he was nothing more than a lust demon who kills other lust demons. the character development!!! i was cheering when he acknowledged his humanity and vulnerability, he realized at last that all isn't lost for him. i just love characters who see themselves as a lost cause, undeserving of human connection but then finally give in and accept their want to live. i can't help but draw parallels to vincenzo since he's my fav character and he basically had this exact development. no wonder i'm so invested in this drama lol. and it's obvious that this is van's whole arc as well!
