I am so happy I signed up for the Amazon Prime trial, I can watch the episodes on Thursday night instead of on…
how do you all have it on prime.. where i'm at (germany) they show the drama as available but you can't watch it?? like there are no episodes, just a trailer. wondering if anyone else has this
Honestly, I agree 100% with what you're saying. Did he find her amusing? How so? What caused this amusement? Because…
oooh i have so many thoughts on this ποΈποΈ although dong jin might be first to start falling i think it's too early to say both have developed proper romantic feelings for each other (let's enjoy the slow burn) but you can tell they're inexplicably drawn to each other, and that doesn't necessarily have to be romantic, sometimes another person just intrigues you and can't yet tell why. what turns into romance later is when you deliberately lean into, or can't help but lean into that attraction.
when it comes to dong jin, i'd say the more he and woojoo confront each other the more he feels drawn to her. he notices how prickly and abrasive she is and it amuses him, i think it's partly because she's a new type of person he hasn't come across yet. a change in his boring routine. her blunt and unfiltered speech mostly falls flat on him (except for that one time when he talked back; which i loved bc she made something click in him! dusted off some old gears that have started turning again!) because he's so used to being numb to everything. and because he knows she's antagonizing him he probably doesn't feel the need to put much of a wall up either. whatever she tries on him doesn't work and his reactions to her are never what she expects, because he doesn't fulfill the "bad boy" image that she wants to paint of him so bad. you're definitely right about woojoo clearly being good natured at heart. and that's why she'll be her own obstacle in her revenge. i think when she sees dong jin just letting things happen to him the side of her that can't sit back and watch that stuff happen easily jumps out. and she gets annoyed because he's not supposed to be like that! he's supposed to be the mistress' evil son who's living it up! if he's not like that, how is she supposed to take revenge on him? the fact that he's lonely and miserable irks her because that way she'll feel bad about trying to take revenge at all. and because she keeps being around him, trying to enact out her poorly-thought out revenge (it's all emotion & impulse and no actual plan) and looking at his "stupid, lonely" back, that's when she's unknowingly going to start to understand this loneliness, and eventually start falling in love with him too. at least that's the thesis the drama starts out with so i am inclined to think that's how it'll go ^^
Is Kim Min Gue really singing or is this all lip sync?
he is! he's got an angelic voice ^^ before he became an actor he used be an idol trainee actually. here's a clip of him on i can see your voice: https://youtu.be/BwkC_3E1wBw
I think people should understand that some characters are the way they are because they go well with the plot.…
yes!! that's one thing that always bothers me is that people forget characters serve a purpose within the plot. it's a lack of media literacy really because people will be mad at characters for being a certain way that they deem annoying/negative/in some way morally reprehensible but then just stop there and don't think about /why/ a character is like that. characters aren't real people and they're not to be treated as such, they're devices for the narrative and the writer intends them to be the way they are for a reason. and even if the writer might not have one, the audience can have one. it all comes back to the curtains being blue lol.
Thank you, you said perfectly what has been bothering me. It is sadly not the first time i see this lack of empathy…
yeah.. definitely won't be the last time. it surprises me each time but the people here come up with some of the wildest takes that are worse than what you'd read on twitter. bit offtopic but the other day i had someome straight up admit they're a terf π like people here don't even have a filter and say that kind of stuff unprovoked. but yeah, lack of simple understanding/empathy or straight up ignorance is rampant here unfortunately. also sadly because too many people treat characters like real people and judge them as such instead of looking deeper into the reasons why they behave the way they do and how that serves the narrative or what the viewer is supposed to take away from the story.
How many centuries has passed since the Ancient time? Has they mentioned it?
since the drama is based on real jeju mythology, i tried searching a little and found this on an article about the dol hareubang park (the creepy stone sculptures that we see in the drama): "The shamanistic statues are believed to be offering protection and warding off demons. According to Tamnaji (Record of Tamna) published by Damsugye (a group of scholars on Jeju Island in the past), Dol Hareubang is believed to have been initiated by Kim Mong-gyu, then Magistrate of Jeju in 1754 (30th year of King Yeongjoβs reign)." so the past events in drama probably take place around the 18th century.
i have just got to share this tumblr comment someone made bc it absolutely killed me:
(pic of van saying he's a lust demon that kills lust demons, nothing more, nothing less) OP: only half-right! you are most definitely a lust demon, but so far you have utterly failed to kill my lust demons, and in fact they all wake up the moment you are on screen. sir, you are failing at your job!
