Me three minutes thirty-two seconds into second ep: "Oh, honey, call HR."
Currently at episode two (18:20), and I see the direction was to play alt-Ogami like a serial killer??? This mirror is apparently also teaching Kano to ignore his animal instinct for danger or something at this rate. (Also, I predict very little will change for the OP's metaphysics after learning that magic is real despite the fact that this should probably entirely reorder his life in profound ways.)

The parallel world is one where an insane amount of touching is normalized in workplace contexts. I prefer the original, sadder, realer world, but, hey, it's okay.

I would like to see Nakagawa star another BL where the kiss would be better. I still like this alot regardless.…

hi there can someone explain to me psychologically why I so much prefer the episode 1 and I would prefer for us…
Taste (and maybe you appreciate stories that reflect and therefore have some resonance with and usefulness in the real world)

I loved the first episode. I already suspect I will have wished it could have remained in that world the whole…

Me and my partner are on ep6, none of us get the hype of this one. I mean, it's not bad, but not good either...…
It 100 percent gets worse over time. I was kind of feeling the first couple episodes. Then I was like... oh.... huh...

Update: the one-on-one scenes still basically just bromance/BL core but the plot is like... cartoonishly silly now. Don't judge a book by its production design, I guess. That said, any of the guys with hairstyles approximating mullets in this series can get it (and of course Sad Eyes can too).

It's even gayer
I apologize for my words and tone. I don't have any interest in fighting. But I've seen enough BL and lived enough queer life to know you could take any one-on-one sequence of the two male protagonists and swap it out with any example of that "are we, aren't we" dynamic so familiar to me in both fact and fiction without an issue. A not insignificant portion of this show is a young man staring at another young man with sad, longing eyes and some unspoken bond with no fixed meaning beyond what we bring to it. And that's fine. Bring whatever you want to it, and I will too. Let's not fight for no reason, like all the characters in this show.

I can comprehend the idea of friendship, and I can comprehend the idea that friendship can be about something deeper too because a lot of queer history and experience (my own included) takes friendship as its model of love. Watching a series about an intense, unarticulated, nearly instantaneous bond between two guys who are clearly fascinated and inspired by one another, I find it kind of hard not to see powerful parallels with plenty of other queer media and many of the telltale signs people like me have to decode in daily life. Calling that reality and reading a "weird fetish" is just really wearing the homophobia on your sleeve, isn't it? No one is stopping you from watching the series however you want. Sorry for my thought crime. 🙄

Good that he says so, but I don't need the director to tell me what my own eyes peeped and ears heard. It's always funny to me when "canon" means "the director said it" instead of "it's literally baked into the structure of the work." Like, when the narrative, framing, source material, themes, script, etc., all converge to suggest something AT LEAST as a possibility, you have to be borderline media illiterate not to see it (straight people are, in fact, media illiterate and cursed by their social centrality not to be able to read the subtle signs, cues, and realities the rest of us have to).

Title Our Youth
A beautiful story about a secretly sensitive, puppy-dog-esque delinquet with a rough home life and the icy, evil repressed rich twink he loves. Honestly just perfect from start to finish.
