That's very interesting: he collaborated as the supervisor for the famous cosmetics Kabuki face masks. The ones with the Kumadori makeup printed on: http://japaneseface.jp/en/
Thank you!!! Japanese dramas and movies are so unique! I'm always amazed by their daring creativity! Longing for Bakumatsu Aibouden ; Chushingura Rhapsody Daigoban ; Shimobee and Yu Yu Hakusho!
- Forensics department can't tell the difference between a murder and self-inflicted wounds? - Police wait courteously that a presumed murderer finish all his activities to arrest him? - As police officers, you can make assumptions based on your feelings and biases (and without concrete proofs) in order to 'choose' the motives for a crime? This is only the tip of the iceberg of the numerous inconsistencies of this drama. The cinematography is beautiful but a drama shouldn't take advantage of it. Just as it shouldn't use old tricks with the editing to get away with the plot holes. What I mean is that the implementation of the scenario is defective. The links between the characters make no sense. I felt bitterly cheated since episode 3. The OST is haunting and noteworthy though.
Great great article! I myself also check Douban ratings among other websites. Sometimes, it happens more often these past months, I'm puzzled by MDL ratings. Fan wars and nationalisms seem to overpower any sense of equity, neutrality and art. Consequently, I put into perspective the ratings (and reviews). Eventually, I fully trust my own judgement. On your list, it's been a long time I wanted to watch 'Ming Dynasty in 1566' and 'Battle of Changsa'. Thank you, your article was very pleasant and instructive to read!
