Well, I learned something. I wasn't "getting" it until the side by side comparison. Admittedly, I don't see much…
Have you read my Xianxia article? I just added a comparison in this article to clear out all the confusion. Also, it would be helpful to read some of my comments further down on this page.
Am I the only one who feels like Wuxia dramas always have a bigger budget and have overall taken more seriously…
Have you read my Xianxia article? There are some recs there.
Also, the Xianxia genre is pretty new, so it obviously isn't as influential as Wuxias. Over time, though, let's hope that more ppl will notice them! :)
Congratulations on your first article, Becky! It's really good! I've only watched 2 Taiwanese dramas, but I've been meaning to watch more (especially Someday or One Day), and this is just the article I need! Not too many dramas, but great recommendations! ^-^
Actually YunMeng is a place. Also instead of using Ten Miles as an explain, shouldn't u use peach blossom debt…
I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean. This is called "Introduction to Xianxia Dramas", not "Introduction to the Xianxia Genre". TMOPB is a great Xianxia drama, as it has all the Xianxia elements. As for the plagiarism, I can clearly see your disgust (it upsets me as well), but it has nothing to do with the hard work the directors, actors, crew and other people did to make this a successful drama.
"Actually YunMeng is a place." This is funny. When did I say that Yunmeng is not a place? I just referred to it to clarify to people that are beginner Cdrama watchers the meaning of location names.
I'm sorry that this article upset you. Calm down, calm down.
I wish there were a way to bookmark articles on this site, because I would bookmark this one and the one you did…
I think someone else said the same thing before. If you have a custom list (or you can create a new one), you can copy and paste the article links there.
It's the way Cdramas air. Most of them don't really have solid airing dates until a few days before the actual airing date. It's all patience. (*sigh*)
After my return to MDL, I just have to pop in to say that I'm really loving this drama so far! I was worried that this would be a normal revenge drama, but 36 episodes in, and I'm still captivated by the characters and plot! As always, these actors and actresses never fail to disappoint!
I also really like the contrast between two princesses from the Tang Dynasty, Changge and Leyan. Although they both were born with a silver spoon, their character developments are just so inspirational and awesome. :) And the friendships and romance, I can't wait for next week!
For clarification, there are numerous dramas that have both Xianxia and Wuxia elements. Some may call a certain drama a Xianxia, while others may call it a Wuxia. We have to use out best judgement to see which genre the drama fits in best.
Also, there are definitely many Wuxia details that I did not go over thoroughly, or even at all, so feel free to ask any questions! This is intended to be an introduction, so I didn't really get deep into the topics. I understand that this article can be pretty overwhelming for you guys who haven't been exposed to Wuxias and Xianxias much, but I promise you'll get the hang of them once you start watching more Wuxia and Xianxia dramas! XD.
no. Cause first off Zombies are not a thing in wuxia. Untame is fantasy, so in xian-xia. In wuxia, there's more…
I have to say that The Untamed has some Wuxia elements. Although it doesn't fit the genre entirely, it's not completely wrong of some to refer to it as a Wuxia drama.
try Eternal Love (2017) also entitled Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, the best cdrama ever.…
This isn't really directed to you guys, just everyone who is reading these comments in general: I think that the hate towards the plagiarized story should just go to the author of the book (Tang7), not the drama itself. The crew, actors and director all did a phenomenal job with the drama, which escalated many of the actors and actresses' popularity.
I do have to admit, that the aspect of plagiarism is unacceptable and truly disgusting, but again, it isn't the fault of the actors and other people who were involved in the making of an awesome drama.
I really hope I don't upset anyone. Just trying to direct the 'hate' in the right direction. :)
it's a really awesome article ........ everything is clear and i loved the facts and the way it is presented.....…
I just replied to someone with a similar question. This is something that viewers tend to get confused with.
The Untamed has both Wuxia and Xianxia elements, so it's perfectly acceptable to call it a Wuxia or a Xianxia drama, but the Untamed leans a little more towards the Xianxia dramas, with its unique form of cultivation, and the groups of demons. The drama does have martial artists, but if you've watched more Wuxia dramas, you can see how the people in The Untamed practice martial arts differently than the people in Jiang Hu. :)
I thought Untamed was a Wuxia drama but I remember it was in the category for xianxia. Although most of it has…
As Estelll said (with an excellent explanation), The Untamed has both Xianxia and Wuxia elements. Many dramas are like this, with both martial arts and magic. Some people classify The Untamed as a Wuxia, while others see it as a Xianxia. As far as I know, the drama leans a little towards the Xianxia genre. (but it does have many Wuxia elements) :)
It is also a link on the second paragraph of this article. :)

Ooh, the Code of Honor!
Yeah, I did miss a lot of Wuxia aspects. It was really hard for incorporating everything in, but thanks for commenting about it!
