I view this as a very oversimplified version of the situation of xianxia dramas. It is a well thought out article…
Hi! You are absolutely correct. There are so many more things in the Xianxia genre than what I have written in this article. But please remember: this article is called "Intro to Xianxias", not "Elaborate descriptions of different ranks and species in Xianxias". This article is meant for Cdrama lovers who have just begun or are about to watch Xianxias and are not familiar with this genre. Some perhaps may be confused by all the different titles, but I have provided a few examples in this article to start them off on their journey.
If you scroll down this comments section, a few thoughtful MDL'ers have provided a link to a Xianxia terms glossary, which people may use if they are still curious about this genre.
Again, this is an introduction to a quite complicated genre. It's too overwhelming for both myself and everyone reading this article to fit all of these ranks and terms into an article that's meant to be a fairly short read. Of course, what you have written is very helpful, but I find that it might make things so much more confusing to people new to Xianxia. You could write an article about it, though!
And also: Considering the length of this comment, could you perhaps mark this as a spoiler? Thank you! :)
Extra P.S. I have included a few ranks and also emphasized the relationship between demons and evilness in this article.
Great article! As someone who grew up in east Europe with classical kungfu movies, I'm very attached to anything…
Hi! This article is centered around Xianxia dramas. I'll be working on a Wuxia article, which will probably (and most likely) include JoL. You see, Joy of Life doesn't really include any Xianxia aspects. As I mentioned in the article above, Xianxia requires at least one demon or immortal, or immortal magic of any kind.
Xianxia is my favorite genre of c-dramas. Thanks for the article. Can you please tell me the names of upcoming…
A few I can think of are Ancient Love Poetry, Agarwood Like Crumbs, Immortality, Miss the Dragon, Mirror: Twin Cities, Love When the Stars Fall, Song of the Moon, The Blue Whisper, My Dear Brothers, and so many more unconfirmed ones.
Nice to hear a different opinion. Thanks for taking your time to write this comment. Better start watching better dramas to become an adult more quickly.
I have stated the differences between the two genres in the very beginning of the article. Wuxia dramas involve more politics, martial arts and sects while Xianxias feature immortals and magic. There are plenty of Wuxia dramas, including The Wolf, Princess Agents, Legend of Fei, and many many more.
I'll probably be writing an intro to Wuxias, so I hope you'll find that one helpful! ^^
:D
"this does not signify that all demons are evil"
I don't have time to continue this baseless argument, but thank you for clarifying a few things for us.
