Episode 2: After Long Yao tortures Shi Jing Yao and then shows up at his house. SJY pushed Long Yao into the wall…
Novel ends same as the series. Except Chen Xing Yi never died. The beggar lead Li Huang Wu did die but was brought back by Zhao Ge. She also survived after reviving the two male leads.
The series shows SJY and LY "together". In the novel, LY asks Li Huang Wu to return to the capital with him. She says no then turns around and asks SJY to stay with her. He tells her no because he has to go back to his mom. 3 years later and SJY lives at the palace as a high ranking official.
Li Huang Wu breaks in with Zhao Ge (dressed like assassins) and the reason was to take their men back 🫤
To save people behind me time, I don't consider this bromance at all. Not even by censorship standards. If you…
Episode 2: After Long Yao tortures Shi Jing Yao and then shows up at his house. SJY pushed Long Yao into the wall and they negotiated splitting the bribe 50-50. Novel: After agreeing to split 50-50, Long Yao took out a bottle of medicine and put it on Shi Jing Yao's neck. SJY went on to complain that his back was also hurt and the text literally says "so Long Yao untied Shi Jing's clothes"
Also episode 2: After they go to General Pei's house to get the bribe. In the series Shi Jing Yao is wiggling around as they are suspended on the ceiling trying to get the rope unstuck and Long Yao drops him. Novel: Shi Jing Yao says to LY "let me give you some encouragement" and kisses Long Yao, who drops him out of anger.
Keeping that context in the next scene where they escaped to the alley. Long Yao told him " Give me the evidence and I'll accompany you home". Shi Jing Yao got nervous because he thought he meant take him home to sleep with him since he had just kissed him.
To save people behind me time, I don't consider this bromance at all. Not even by censorship standards. If you are looking for clear indication that there is romance between them like WOH or Untamed, this is not that. It started off that way, but stopped after the first 2-3 episodes. Hints of a relationship don't surface again until the literal last 2 minutes of the series.
I read both the manhua and novel. The manhua stops right at episode 2 in the series so it's not really relevant.
But there were two scenes in the novel that were not in the series that led you to believe it was romantic interest. I put those under a spoiler. Despite that the novel makes it clear in later chapters that there is a main love interest and it's not between the male leads. Any hope I had for it really being bromance were depleted by time the novel ended. I put a spoiler for that too.
All in all, I don't regret watching. It was hilarious. They did a great job because there was not a lot of source material. The series does a better job of making their relationship ambiguous and the chemistry is very good.
Sorry but could you tell me about the beef? This is the first I'm hearing of it!
He was in a very popular BL with another actor named Ohm. It was called Bad Buddy.
He and Ohm were good friends prior to the series. Who did what or why is debatable. But the most accepted theory is that Ohm did something that ruined the friendship. Their BL ship sunk and Nanon took a break from acting. Ohm is now paired with a new partner and just wrapped up filming for his new BL called Kidnap.
Nanon focused on music. I do not think any of his other projects were BL and I doubt he has interest in working with Ohm again. They have both been cordial but the friendship is obviously strained.
Peeps further down are arguing about if a birthday tag Ohm sent to Nanon got responded to lol.
I'll just say that there wasn't enough pay off to me as the viewer. There's no sense of accomplishment. I watched 36 episodes of conflict, fighting, revenge and a bunch of stupid old men with nothing but an unearned sense of entitlement lol.
And for what....2 minutes of "happy ending"? And even that is shared with yet another set of characters no one cares about. Sure there were cute moments. But the censorship really robs you of investing in their relationship. I think if there was a shorter version focusing on just the two leads like Untamed did, I would probably like it better.
I cannot believe Gong Jun is the same lead actor from Advance Bravely. It really threw me for a loop 🤣. I'll have to watch a few episodes of that again.
Kinda agree but who exactly? I suppose you meant one of the actors here look plastically altered?
I won't say who but if you look at the cast you'll notice one whose nostrils aren't even the same size. I find myself not liking a series because it's so distracting to look at. I know it's their beauty standard but I don't understand what's wrong with a bulbous or button nose.
I don’t understand the high rating this drama was boring more than boring and someone mentioned the storyline…
🤣 I haven't watched it yet but I never trust MDL ratings. I appreciate comments who are honest because not everyone will like everything. I look for the realistic comments and not just mindlessly gushing over a series
But what the heck were they thinking with that guitar song? Episode 5 for example, when they're walking to the fireworks? It is such a terrible song! 🤣 Every time it came on I lost my concentration.
Like imagine having a moment then someone just aggressively off key sings la la la LAAAA
Hasn't it been like 4 years? Think it's a done deal. I don't understand why they still try these in China. Is it worth the trouble anymore? I mean imagine shooting all this just to have it fumbled in the end.
Let Taiwan start making these historical dramas. Or at least distribute them if China won't license it. Maybe I am oversimplifying the issue.

Guess I'll watch it muted
*tumbleweed*
