;-) I watched that when it came out 2 years ago and the details are a bit foggy. I had actually thought about rewatching it. I originally rated it a 7 so I probably thought it was ok but not like a Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms or Ashes of Love level good for me.
I'm loving this one, I feel like it's going to be on my rewatch list. I had read the novel translations before watching and it's pretty faithful to the source material. The biggest difference is that in the novel some of the past history is told in broken up flashbacks and they seem to have gone for just doing most of it in one go here. I hope they don't mess it up by giving us some stupid ending. I highly recommend reading the novel to supplement with if you like it and aren't put off by homosexuality. The book itself is a really slow burn romance and they actually managed to keep a lot of the stuff in the drama.
Xiao Tai was the one who made me cringe. Just wanted to slap her every time she came on screen lol
For me its like... The writer uses a lot of tropes that are ok in moderation but they are so drawn out and over the top in this show you just end up wishing that just about everyone would just hurry up and die, so you don't have to look at them anymore. Maybe one of these days I'll come back and finish it but for now I'll look for something else. Too bad because this is my favorite genre and I was really looking forward to seeing it before I actually watched it. :-/
This has got to be one of the most annoying stories I've ever tried to watch. I think I'm just going to drop it. All of the female characters make me want to rip their faces off. Especially that nasty Ming He character.
I feel that this story is very depressing. Well plotted out, as for keeping the suspense up through the whole show and everything, but I feel so bummed out at the end of all of it. Not a re-watch show for sure.
It took me forever to finish this drama. I think the actors did their best but the script itself was lackluster. I kind of think they let the conflict between the brothers and the mystery of the first episodes conclude too quickly. There wasn't really anything going on in the last half of it, making it feel too drawn out. It's OK though and there are plenty of good scenes between the leads. I don't feel like I wasted my time on it but it won't be a re-watch.
Due to a lack of interest in most of the currently running shows I decided try again with this one. I thought the first 18 or so eps were sorta a chore but the story did pick up after that. It's something to pass the time but I'm still not in love with it. This one is definitely for those who have the patience for a very slow plot to unfold.
Well, I've only watched a few Lakorns [Mostly because I can't seem to find many translated ones.] but I think I can somewhat understand the rape. If you can follow me with this... Have you ever read a bodice ripper? Really prevalent in the 70's and 80's were rape scenes in these types of books. Why you ask--amid screams of that's not romance. Well, it's not about romance. It's about sexual repression. Women of previous eras and indeed many women still are taught that they are not supposed to feel sexual desire, which leads to feeling of guilt and other negative connotations. Hence the rape fantasy is born. Nobody really wants to be raped but the fantasy rape in these type of books or dramas is allowing a mental dissociation. The "rape" is not my fault and therefore I do not have to feel guilty for feeling desire. It's something like that, IMO.
I seem to be of the minority that do feel the romance but after that preview for ep 11....I don't know what to…
Yeah, when I say I don't feel the romance. It's not that I think the two leads aren't great but that the script hasn't given them any time together or shown me any reason that they would like/love each other more than a very shallow physical attraction. The story is interesting but they should have cut the fight scenes in half and concentrated some of the time on relationship building instead if they wanted to bill this as a romance.
This story is so freaking weird. I'm enjoying the craziness of it but I'm disappointed by the romance. I'm just not feeling it at all and the story's already half way over so I'm not that hopeful for that aspect of it.
I thought I might like this but I'm finding it too boring. That and I don't like the male lead very much, after finding out he has a woman and two kids already. That just kills the romance for me. I'll check back when it finishes and see what the rest of you thought about it but for now I'm dropping it. :-/
The main couple ends up together and that's about it. If you primarily like strong romance plots this show will be disappointing probably. It's really not the focus of the story at all.
I liked it. I didn't love it. It had a great cast but I think the script was somewhat lackluster. So I don't regret my time investment but this will probably never make my re-watch list. Choi Min Soo's performance of Ahn Oh Jo was probably what made me keep comming back and watching it; his performance was standout for me.

Of course it will depend on your personal taste but I enjoyed Lion Pride a lot. It has decent pacing and is thankfully missing the most annoying types of side characters.

I 'd heartily second those Korean dramas. I also loved W if you haven't already seen it. There are a bunch of Chinese time travel dramas that I've watched but most of them tend to be just girl thrown into the past. If you don't mind a mild spoiler list I have a list on my profile called Happily Ever After Fantasy Romance that you can look at.
This was a good Drama. Can anyone recommend me something similar please?
I haven't seen any other Taiwanese dramas in this genre that are similar; but if you like the overall "feel" of this drama I recommend these; although none are sci fi or supernatural: Bromance: Girl disguised as boy plot The Masked Lover: Twins, Gangsters, and an undercover cop Lion Pride: Mystery Romance The King of Romance: Has the same lead actor but to be honest I hated the female lead so much it almost ruined it for me.
