A possible new watcher here, are there actually 6 leads in this or is it more like a typical series with 2 or…
It is an ensemble cast with stories and sidestories utilized to show the spectrum of the entertainment industry. So the side characters have their own plots etc but ML/FL and their story is in the center of it all. Some have complained about the ML/FL not getting enough screentime (together) but imo it is much more interesting and varied to have several characters and their small stories than just the pure romance story development of ML/FL. Feels more complete a story this way since they don't exist in a vacuum like in other romcoms.
That being said the story is shifting its focus now more toward romance and backstory of ML/FL halfway thru, so the other characters (may) get less screentime than in the beginning but are never fully forgotten about 😊
I read alot of comments on twitter that Park Hae Jin is pulling off the magician role better than Wookie. What…
I am currently watching TSOM and I love the duality of PHJ being an absolute professional onstage and giving one hell of a show (although with a lot of help from his ghost employees) and being a big pouty baby that pretends not to care for others but has such a big heart actually more tbh. It has more facets and is more interesting than just being the magician(tm)
Then again TSOM is more serious so PHJ's character would not fit into that drama and the other way around. Imo they are both the best for each of their role and i enjoy both dramas for different reasons. I just love the ghost-seeing himbo magic bean more, is all🤣
It was funny and cute, especially Shin Sung Rok playing the ML was on point with his eccentricity and quirky humor. It dragged on in the latter part as FL kept running away and avoiding ML like a child unable to communicate, which was frustrating and served more to prolong the plot/secret between them than adding anything of value to the last episodes. I liked the theme of second chances and acceptance/healing tho but it would have worked better as a 12 eps drama, imo. It is more comedy than romance too, as those scenes were far and wide in between. Still cute tho and watchable, just noting special.
I'm 3 episodes in right now and honestly i'm not sure how to feel about it. I dont like the way they portray suicidal…
It is why the drama is for me a 9.0 instead of 10.0. It does look all too easy a fix... BUT they also say several times in the drama that they are not there to solve their problems and instead are focused only on saving this person from ending their life first and foremost. It's about giving them the will to live on, to keep fighting and eventually get better. Hope, when all is lost, so never underestimate the power of words and someone really listening to one's struggle.
However, a small scene of the drama showing a prior client of them going to therapy/seeing a doctor or even mentioning therapy/seeking further professional help afterwards in ANY of these eps would have done wonders to clear up that perceived issue, tho.
That being said, it is also a prime example why in my fresh-faced half year of watching kdramas, i never gave…
Yeah, i DO listen to kmusic, but i really limit this to the various OST's and songs of dramas that i liked when watching it. I don't follow/listen to a specific group or singer, Especially not with such a scary, cult-like hivemind as it is the case for bts and other kpop bands/idols etc. Yikes. So i could not even name any of the bts members or something, even if my life depended on it. Hell i am always surprised when i hear actor xy is so and so idol of...xy group, bc i do not caaaaaaaare about kpop outside of drama OSTs 🤣
Honestly alone the thought of dealing with all the kiddos in the kpop fandom sends my head spinning and me running. Nah, just let me watch my dramas in peace as I am too old and grumpy for this shit 😂
Me, coming into this comment section after finishing episode 14:https://giphy.com/gifs/13871fiv9kBfkQ
That being said, it is also a prime example why in my fresh-faced half year of watching kdramas, i never gave a single damn about the kpop side of hallyu and will continue to ignore it. Because holy shit this is Kpop stan brainrot at its finest, yikes.
Ah, idk, so far I loved the first ep, it was hella funny, light and had a ton of things goin on. But it kinda…
same here, it is an okay watch in between other dramas, but nothing more so far. I miss the quirky charm the US version had tbh. So far, the drama takes itself too seriously and plays it all too straight, when JTV was all about being tongue in cheek/selfaware of its cliches and running with them while screaming "I AM CRINGE BUT I AM FREEEEE!" 😂
I'll be Honest. When I first saw the name of the show, I didn't think it was "Shooting" stars. I think I am not…
Oh next time when seeing the title screen with cartoon han byeol mopping up stars, pay attention to the little detail of the stars being brownish and coming out of the middle, aka the hangul word for poop ;)
But the female lead kind of hates the male lead and they don't actually have a whole lot of scenes together. In…
And as always i love your attention to detail <3 Yes, the way he perked up and wrote her name down was so cute and definitely has everything of "being whipped from the start" I loved that. Tho i also think he has not realized that he is indeed romantically interested in her until now. Since he is, um, not the emotionally most aware and mature person, with how focused on himself he was till recently (always with sparks of kindness toward ppl he cares about tho). No surprise seeing how he had been abandoned by his mother and the growing fame made him even more isolated with time i think.
So Han Byeol has always been his source of comfort, or a light in the darkness, to say in a cheesy way... Which i think the one scene with her standing with the sunlight in her back was meant to express. Oh and his quirk of self-narrating? Probably stems from loneliness as well, since it is a self-soothing method. Sure the actor KYD uses it for comedic effect mostly, but imo it also gives the character more depth, now where we know of his sad and lonely child/teenagehood.
I think him returning from the year abroad (I refuse to say africa as that bit still irks me whenever it is brought up in the drama) he was so caught in his hurt of her not messaging/talking to him the whole time that he fell back into his old pattern of teasing and making her life harder. He is a petty little diva after all, who only now starts to THINK and reflect about his actions toward her, whoops😆Hence the slow development of his character (yay for subtle, organic growth) and of their relationship away from frenemies makes perfect sense imo. I also loved the detail how we got these scenes from both of their perspectives. This was such a nice touch <3
Yes, tis meeee haha. Ever since I subbed to the viki pass I just cannot watch a drama without the comment function on ngl. I love to read the different comments and I use it myself a lot too. it is too much fun to NOT use it to react live in form of a comment hehe. (You can see a lot of my comments in the various Mr. Queen episodes, unsurprisingly xD Also FNOS, of course)
Huh. I seem to be vibing more with the underrated airing kdramas than with the popular ones. For example I liked…
Hehe, it was bound to happen friendo, no biggie ;) Glad you enjoy it but such very slow paced dramas are always either a hit or miss for me, nothing in between xD
Also my thoughts re: love triangle, (not so) minor spoilers so read at your own risk in case you have not watched…
FL will go on a date with SML next week, but as both men confessed to her there was definitely a vast difference in her reaction. With SML she was like huh... okay, that is surprising dunno what to think of it for a moment, then went about her day afterwards. It did not linger in her mind nearly as much as ML's confession which left her dazed to the point where she only functioned on autopilot at work and having his confession playing on repeat in her head. Also she did her best to avoid ML afterwards and in parts also SML. When meeting SML she was awkward but definitely no "AVOID ABORT AVOID this can't be true" panic mode like with ML😆 And that is a (not so) small difference in her reaction toward their confession, which says a lot about who she really likes. Right now she is firmly in denial land tho, also due to events in their past that made her erect walls around her in regards of her feelings for ML (they know each other for a decade)
I think she sees SML as the safe, comfortable option while her heart in truth is with ML, but she is afraid to get hurt again. So now it is up to our boy taesung (ml) to make it clear to her that he is serious/genuine (which according to preview will happen) So yeah i see SML more as an obstacle existing only to bring them together, tbh)
