Please keep commenting on your choices, it's very useful for me!! It gives a good idea of why a show is good without having to read a long winding review...
He's been part of my top 5 actors ever since I discovered him in Sweet Stranger and Me. His character in there was so complex and multi-layered, I loved him (I know I keep repeating myself, but a broken villain? Gimme, gimme, gimme. I can't get enough of them). I've since watched him in Mad Dog and Divine Fury, and I'm awaiting for The New Age to finish to start watching (New Age has another of my top 5, Yang Se Jong, so you can't imagine how high my expectation is...)
Park Seo Joon is way hotter as a dark/calm/not funny character.. he looked sooooo good ❤o❤and Woo Do Hwan…
I completely agree that a drama, or simply a longer movie/series of movies would have been better, as everything happened too fast in my opinion to truly feel engaged.
Interesting article! I even went back and read the other parts. I would add onto those tropes: - the need to go to hospital when the character runs a slight fever or a cold. They treat those like serious diseases and character HAS to be in bed and react like he/she's dying. - The over the top acting from the villain: wicked laugh, menacing expressions and line delivery, banging on the desk etc..Please. This is not Disney! - Female characters especially, find new jobs easily and are always successful in getting them. I thought jobs were really rare in Korea, so people cling onto theirs and do not dare change them? Or is it in Japan? Ooops, can't remember. - The closing, slightly shaky fist. When a character wants to show his frustration or determination. In case we didn't get it.
I've never watched it and don't plan to either. I'm too old for this kind of plot now. Maybe if I had known about Asian drama 20 or 30 years ago, I might have been tempted? I'm not sure. The harem genre makes my eyes roll and my brain melt, I need a little more substance nowadays, and older, more mature characters. The tribulations and problems of teenagers are beyond me now, so they're of no interest, and a little laughable too if I'm honest. That's what you get when you grow up: you realize all those worries you had as a kid seemed huge but were futile and derisory compared to the ones you face as an adult. If only I had known, I wouldn't have spent so many days being anxious and would have lived my life a little more freely, grrr!!!
I always said that and i am repeating myself again. Sung Hoon is really underrated and he needs more recognization…
I disagree a bit with you. I don't think Sung Hoon is that great an actor: he's not terrible at all, just okay, enough for me to follow him anyway because he's not irritating or too OTT in his acting, but above all, because he's such an eye candy lol. I also loved I Picked (...) which was his best show so far (he was quite cool in Faith too, but he didn't talk much in it. The vibe was strong though.)
This showed up in my Recommendations I guess because I love Lee Yoo Bi and have watched a few of her works. The plot sounded good, but then I saw "love triangle"...gah. Why oh why? Now I'm not so sure. Whether I like the 2nd lead or not, I always feel so sad for him, unless there is another lady in the drama ready to heal his broken heart.
HA! He got caught. I wish all the other sleazebags were too, but there are too many of them in this business whose money and/or fame can keep mouths shut for it to happen. I just hope that the public is aware that creepy/destructive/abusive/etc...behaviour is widespread in those circles??????
To everyone saying "I won't watch it because of Jong Hyun", remember he isn't the only one who worked on this drama, and in my opinion, it would be unfair to penalize not only the other actors but also all the people behind the scenes because of him.
I am currently dropping. Even tho I do recognise it as a good drama, I've missed the hook. There is nothing that…
It is a very good drama, with well fleshed out and sensibly acted characters, but I admit multiple scenes were unnecessary and slowed down the pacing of the whole drama to the point of losing my interest. Hence why I skipped episodes 13 and 14, then fast forwarded some bits in episode 15. But the ending was worth it. I think if they had condensed the series a little more, it would have worked better.
