Sweet and lovely and quite well done short drama. I just watched it for the second time and actually upped my rating to an 8. I think the second look made me see even more how well they did with this drama. It's a simple story, but well told and well acted. Worth watching at least once....or twice!
Why is it taking so long to sub? Money Flower gets subbed in a few hours.
no one's watching this but us (notice only 52 comments here?) and no Big names in the cast either. Ratings are not great either, but not horrible. Ep 7 only got about a 2.5%, but 8 got a little over 3%. In Seoul it's gotten over 4% a couple times, which is good for a JTBC show. Still, it needs to maintain at least 4%, preferably 5% to get attention. It's taking so long to sub because Viki it the only one subbing it and I don't think they got many volunteers to do it. Last week's episodes took days! (maybe someone got sick or had family issues?) Unfortunately, we are moving into the end of semester or quarter periods for students (which make up large portion of the volunteer subbers at Viki) and then it's going to be Christmas vacation. Expect even slower subbing as everyone starts spending time with family and friends for the holidays! Good thing there are many other dramas and movies you can add to your list! Time to catch up on some of those ones On Hold or in Plan to Watch! :) ;)
Another really well done Special, as so many of them are. Completely free of cliches and dealing with far more realistic situations and relationship than your normal kdrama, they are almost universally a wonderful break from the sameness of kdrama. This one dealt with a lot more realistic homelife situations and difficult ones at that. A son dealing with anger issues and on the verge of permanently screwing up his life with poor life choices and violence. A single mom too busy trying to make ends meet to deal with the serious issues going on with her 2 children, but trying her best, and a daughter rebelling and coming of age and into realizations of life issues she does not want to face. Really enjoyed this.
Oh man. I am just blown away by this film...the concept and conceptualization of it. The direction, acting, and cinematography. And the absolutely haunting and beautifully evocative way the fantasy scenes were woven into this...so amazingly unique. As so many have said, the fantasy of this was done so well, it felt as if it were real. Which made dealing with the lack of belief of the adult characters and the results of that even more heartbreaking to endure. I am absolutely watching this one again. Beautiful...Just Beautiful.
No subs equals bad ratings here. rofl xD People... really.. duhSeems like Netflix got another drama. ha ha ha…
This past year CJ E&M closed a deal with cable channels, thankfully, to start simulcasting and also start carrying more of their completed dramas. With Kocowa taking hold of the big 3 terrestrial channels, I will be thankful for every cable show that finally shows up on Netflix. But I do hope DF and Viki will try to get a share of the cable shows too so we don't have to wait until the simulcasting is done in Korea to see them on Netflix. But...whatever, as long as we get them! http://www.daehandrama.com/netflix-closes-deal-cj-em-ramps-kdrama-offering-embraces-webdramas/
What exactly is the "twist"? Can you please reply with spoiler tags?
Have you watched Sixth Sense? THAT is the spoiler! :) If you haven't, it is a definite must watch. I really really really hate saying if you don't know, because if you don't, then this movie will be all that much better for not knowing. It's because I knew what was coming and was comparing the 2 movies that I lost some of the joy in this one. So...are you sure?
I watched this because of you. I hate you bmore.. You made me cry (silently)! Grrr...
I'm so very very sorry (not)! :) I hate to cry so avoid stuff like this usually, but with this cast...just had to watch. I admire Lee Joo Seung as an actor, so if he is in it I will usually give it a try. And I absolutely love Drama Specials. The quality of their shows is outstanding as a rule.
really a lovely little short story. It's a genre some like and some don't because it leaves so much space for the viewer or reader to fill in the blank spots. So you have to work a little harder I guess to figure out what it is the writer is trying to get across to their reader/viewer in that short space of time. What was the most important thing to come out of these 2 hours? What did the writer want us to see? Their journey together up to their breakup is my guess. It, however, doesn't lessen the hurt for me though. It actually made it worse. For some the fact that she relived their love and remembered how much they loved each other should alleviate her pain so she can go on. But for me it doesn't lessen the pain that she is going to continue to live with where their breakup is concerned. There was too much unresolved between them at the end and the remembered joy of their time together only makes how the relationship ended even more regrettable and it's that memory that will carry more weight for the longer period of time. He was in a lot of pain at the end and he needed to tell her something. It's very sad that he never got to...even if she suspects he was calling to tell her that he loved her still and always would. He was just too sad at the end...as was she...and that, unfortunately, is how I feel at the end also.
can someone please explain me the ending? i seriously didn't get it. the whole drama was about her unlocking his…
see my remark above too. I too think she remembered the passcode he entered on the day they first met and finally entered it. Perhaps she found a message he had typed but never sent before he was killed. Perhaps she didn't. She had used up the 10 codes, but the fact that she dropped the phone seems like a dire sign fairly typical in kdrama, signifying bad news. And that whatever happened, whether it was the wrong code and she used up her 10, or whether there was a msg he had not hit send for, or whether there was no message, that it wasn't what she wanted to see. But who knows. These kind of stories are meant to make the viewer discuss and worry about all that!
And really...aren't there computer nerds out there that can bypass passwords for a price? :)
Good. Well Acted. Enjoyed it. They telegraphed the possibilities of how it would end about 3/4 of the way through, but even so the double switcheroo was well done and definitely added to the enjoyment of the movie. It's just that there wasn't much of a 'gripping' factor for me. Have I seen too many of these kind of movies? ;) 8/10
I'm always unsure about what it is I think about movies like this...sort of arthouse, sort of introspective, heavily driven by the characters themselves rather than the stories, extremely intimate. They are driven by very flawed and familiar characters and bring back many (mostly bad) memories about failed or flawed loves and an embarrassing and foolishly naive part of life. Many of us live through similar (in one degree or another) events in our lives, filled with mistakes of varying degrees of seriousness. Some like reliving them, like the feeling of reliving those intense feelings...but not me. Because they are unhappy feelings and even if they don't directly relate to me, the characters in this movie, and other like them, are unhappy and their lives are painful to watch. So it's hard to say I 'enjoyed' such a film when the subject matter is unrelievedly depressing and hopeless.
Some viewers seem to relish in this kind of escapism. Others can just see it as brilliant film making because it does such a good job of making you FEEL those feelings, whether or not you have had them yourself. I do see that also and can't overlook my admiration of it . But, once I've lived through a pain, I don't feel like massaging it, taking it out and looking at it, 're-learning' whatever from it. Nor do I derive pleasure from watching that kind of pain in other people's lives. Especially when it involves a self destructing individual who not only seems to revel in his own sty of a life, but seems to only derive satisfaction from bringing down any number of people around him and then discarding them when they have shown themselves to be so pitifully weak and susceptive to his wiles. That's a different kind of psyche than mine I guess. And this director and many others like him wallow in that kind of aesthetic.
Still, going back to the movie as just a movie, it is impossible for me to overlook how really well done this movies is and how intensely I felt the emotions evoked by the actors. So...excellent film! Despite my own inhibitions.
And yeah...that ending...too odd and all the myriad explanations on line don't help with any definitive conclusion
Really one of the best written, produced, directed and acted romances ever. It filled up my heart with every episode. I loved all the couples and would have been heartbroken at any different modern type ending. We live with those kinds of relationship endings every day in our lives. This is what I watch romance for. But rarely do you find a romance so introspective, so full of wisdom and insights. Writer Yoon Nan-Joong has shown with this and Ho Goo's Love that she is a writer to follow and I will definitely be watching and waiting anxiously for her next project!
If Netflix has the license for this, then no other legal site can sub it. That leaves some kind volunteer who is willing to put up with jerks going off on them on their site and all the illegal sites for everything from how slow the subs are to how bad the English is. I pity the poor souls really! But, like with Avengers Social Club, which was also subbed by a private group voluntarily, we can only hope someone becomes so thrilled with this drama that they pick it up and puts up with the jerks out there. I kinda doubt it though. :( But it's what we have to endure for now until Netflix sees what kind of audience Kdrama is going to draw. I guess.
I believe Netflix is going to stream it, but they take a lot of time to sub it.
Man to Man (which initially had some weird broadcast schedule as I remember), White Nights, Argon and Stranger didn't appear until they were over or mostly done. I don't know who does Netflix subbing for their tvN stuff, it would be interesting to know. Other than these 4, have there been any other current kdramas on Netflix? I don't think so?
drives me nuts. I wish there was a way to block reviews until several episodes in. What's even more idiotic is…
:( Sadly, we will have to wait to see if it shows up on Netflix like Argon and Secret Forest and Man to Man did. Cross fingers and send a request to Netflix for it. https://help.netflix.com/en/titlerequest
drives me nuts. I wish there was a way to block reviews until several episodes in. What's even more idiotic is that I'd bet those reviews are because they can't find subs! People on DF especially are ALWAYS downgrading a drama if the subs aren't up or up fast enough for them.
And really...aren't there computer nerds out there that can bypass passwords for a price? :)
