Absolutely lovely, esoteric movie and therefore, as mentioned by so many others, not a movie for everyone. It is thought provoking, even if obvious. I liked it because it used such a unique and beautiful way of showing its message.

It's a struggle for me to figure out exactly how I feel about this film. I was good, but there were so many bothersome issues about it that it makes it hard to bump it up into that 8 and above range I think it may deserve. I know a lot of people really enjoy the filming techniques in this also....I did not. I detest shaky cam and , even worse, hated the incessant use of flash forward and backward scenes chopped together in rapid flashes. I dont appreciate the techniques used at all..especially when they are so grossly overused like they were in this film. But the most egregious of all was that totally random and What The??? scene as the credits rolled. WHY? Even so, I think it was a great story and I will give it the 8 for that...and I loved KKW in it too. I guess I just felt they tried too hard to make it artsy and I just wanted the story.

It's definitely because of the nude scenes. This place is prude central. Every movie with nudity on MDL suffers…
Yeah. :( God forbid any kind of reality should rear its head where love and sex are involved. I do love well done fairy tales of course. But the occasional drama where what actually goes on between people in love would be a refreshing change. So thankful for Kcable for pushing the limits. (Btw, totally don't remember this one...need to watch a bit for a reminder)

I have just watched the first episode and I’m sorry to say this, but it has been a disappointment.Other commenters…
Very well written. Thank you. I just finished the first episode last night. It's not the anti Americanism per se for me...it's the god awful cliche way they do it. BAD acting, BAD writing. NO negotiator is going to act like that moron and to add insult to injury, he is a horrible actor...as usual. The spouting of pro-American slogans in the middle of this kind of conversation is embarrassingly laughable. And its effects on new people watching Kdrama are upsetting to me. It makes Kdrama look simple and amateurish, when they can be anything but. The terrific political Kdramas like Assembly and Punch and others prove that Really Good writing and acting can happen. If the show wanted to win points with an American audience, they should have shown more subtlety. The world would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb not to be aware of the divisiveness that has been going on here for the past 20 years or more (honestly...it really has always been like this to a degree, but that is another conversation). I'm absolutely sure both sides can get bogged down in their own agendas in talks like this. It's the job of the negotiator to get past all that and there could have been an attempt at showing how that works...sadly no. Thank you for adding the more intimate knowledge you shared.

omg i came here to browse something else to watch after catching up on chief of staff and waiting for new episodes…
I am also really enjoying Chief of Staff. But I can definitely see why some might think it is boring. It's definitely a more adult drama and absolutely not romance nor idol driven...not that I don't immensely enjoy those when you can find a well written and acted one! :) I highly recommend Assembly and Punch. Amazingly written and acted. I know there must be others, but those 2 come to mind right away.

Great review ... I feel the same way about not wanting to be immersed in a world of constant misery with no hope…
Amen to all of that! I totally get the fish bowl analogy. And it's not that sad/bad stories can't be worth watching....Maundy
Thursday, Bleak Night are a couple that quickly come to mind. They are often cathartic and uplifting in the sense that they take one out of life's lethargy! :) There is definitely something to be said for the energy that comes from becoming emotionally engaged! I have gotten lazy about commenting in the comments and putting my comments in the Note box when I complete a drama or movie. Only when I get 'emotionally engaged' do I blather on in the open comments! :) See you around!

I did add it,but 4 hours is a lot to give of myself if I am not going to be happy I spent the time. Getting old...I feel less and less inclined to watch those kinds of things...sadly. :( it was a big part of my life for many years. I'll let you know if I do. And hello again. I'm not on here much anymore. It was very nice to hear from you after a long while. Thank you.

I should have liked it more than I did...not sure why, but it felt really draggie to me. I struggled through to the end, but put it on pause a lot. Terrific seeing these guys so young. LJJ is gorgeous with more weight on him. JDG hasn't changed a bit! ;)

Their flirtatious banter at the Pharmacy was everything. Also, love how the construction impacts that scene. I…
I've seen this 'fashion style' in too many dramas...where everyone (sisters, friends, mothers, even enemies...especially enemies), is dressed in the height of fashion but the lead female dresses like a frumpy old lady. Absolute Boyfriend is another currently airing example. And yes, it totally drives me nuts. It's a direction choice to lower the female lead...because God forbid that she should be strong AND sexy...how is oppa going to rescue her otherwise? UGH! So irritating. There is something about these subtle background devices that aren't all that subtle and are too overused. And so many times it is in these cliche noona dramas. Are there really that many older women drooling over these young men seriously enough that they would actually start a relationship with one? Are there that many young beautiful men who are falling for someone who looks like their mom? But these dramas are fraught with Mommy issues where the men are concerned. ;) I've only gotten halfway through the first episode....already pretty sure I will drop it, but will struggle to get through the first 4 episodes to give it a fair chance. :)

I too, like others here, struggled to even start this drama. And I continued to struggle through the first 4+ episodes. I've watched too many films and dramas dealing with bullying and its aftermath, and I'm about burned out on the topic. I'm glad I took the chance and kept at it because this drama's main point is how the parents are fighting the good fight when no one else believed...because they believed in their son and supported each other unconditionally. It is more like a detective story. Each episode we watch as the parents uncover one small piece of the puzzle and, in the process, begin to gather support in their fight to find the truth...no matter what that truth is. Against them are the 'bad' parents. They too are fighting to protect their son, but destroying him and themselves in the process. They have a baby monster on their hands, and if they keep this up they will turn him into a full blown killer...or destroy him utterly. There's also the poor parents of the girl whose anger and fear for their daughter causes them to lash out. They too want to protect their child. That part is so frustrating because the poor girl probably has no idea what chaos she is contributing too. And then there's the blind cattle herd of parents, all so anxious to say 'not my child, but yours' that they heap even more damage on the innocent. How Sun Ho's parents are not collapsing under all of this is beyond me. If that was my son in that bed, I think I would be almost catatonic. Anyway...all of this is to say, if you are hesitating because of the topic, like me, DON'T. Give this one a try. The cast is terrific as is the writing and direction. Very worthwhile.

An unusual and ethereal movie...quite poetic. Part fantasy, part arthouse/indie, part romance, and beautifully filmed, it was absolutely lovely to watch. It meets the reviewers comments as quite odd, but I found it entertainingly so. Suspend some reality while watching perhaps? It's not a great movie, but I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching it. On Amazon. 7.5 or 8 if I'm being generous.
