There are some Chinese shows that feel highly produced and polished for sure but just as many are very natural and human. If you like the more naturalistic acting and production check out Blue Canvas of Youthful Days, The Sparkle In Your Eye, Winter Sun Wakes The Wind, Lost To You, even Addicted 2016. All of these are very "real" feeling and some of my favorite BL from the last couple years.
Kinda fun that they really lean into the toxicity. I dont know if it was overall totally successful in what it tried to do but I appreciate them trying. The actors did great too.
I actually have been really enjoying this series. The tropey conflict is annoying but TBH the majority of BL have terrible "ep 11 curse" misunderstandings and I'm willing to overlook it. Half of the series that I love I just ignore the plot conflict episodes.
I love this so far. It has a very classic old school BL feel to it that I love. The messiness, the tension, the drama, all are things I love about BL. I felt like I was watching We Best Love or History 2 again. So fun... really hope it has a happy ending though because idk if I can take the heartbreak
Super well done and fun series overall. But I didnt really feel the chemistry between the main couple. Their individual acting was good but they never seemed to be more than friends. Second couple was great though! And the overall vibe and story was really great.
as soon as i think im finally too jaded and no BL can hit me in the feels anymore... something like this comes along and totally flips my expectations upside down. The characters and the writing in this series deserve a lot of credit imo. they are so dynamic and have motivations for all of their actions that make sense and align with their character. they change and grow throughout the series but also stay true to themselves. There arent a ton of wasted side plots and meaningless conversations filling up airtime. The actors are given real emotional dynamics to work with and deliver impressive performances that are actually a joy to watch. It doesnt rely on forced emotional scenes or carefully choreographed poses, it seems like the actors can hold their own on camera and keep their characters natural. Ive only ever rated 3 dramas 10/10 stars out of 100+ that ive watched, but this one has potential to be a new contender.
this is one of the best BL to come out recently. it takes a minute to get going but when you see that the actors can actually act and the characters are growing and changing, it becomes a beautiful, fun, and engaging story. love this pairing too.
wasn't in love after the first few episodes. decided to stick with it and now I think its one of the best BL of the year. Hit my heart in a way that very few BL have recently. I have laughed and cried... I'm really not one for fluff but this is so well done that it feels real and human! Love the writing and the acting, really impressed with both Por and TeeTee, there is a surprising amount of subtlety in their performances even with the comedy and over the top style.
I also really appreciate that their relationship doesn't fall into easily defined roles. So refreshing and honestly more realistic to see that portrayed in a BL.
Please tell me this will pick up pace because I am having hard time
the first few episodes are character development that helps the rest of the story make sense. When they eventually start getting to know each other their relationship development is SO worth it.
Justice for this show! People really just dont understand it... Its supposed to be funny and very silly. I thought it was going to be bad and I loved it.
Everyone in the comments saying this is the worst BL ever. Yet here I am, 100+ BL deep and TharnType is still a BL I will defend. Is it toxic? Absolutely. That's part of why its great. They are a match made in hell, deserve each other, complete each other, bring out the worst and the best in each other.... So fun to watch. The chemistry is insane. The writing is totally unhinged, and hilarious.
i honestly really liked it. i usually dont like vertical BL but this one was really well made, the story was simple but it felt balanced and interesting. the actors were great.
