I did not watch Lost You Forever because I am not a fan of Yang Zi - the actress who never got out of cutesy acting. Its' like she is trying hard to fulfill the role but I still see mediocrity. I will have definitely watched if she was not the FL.
I watched this twice before but this is the first time I read almost all the comments. If you are one of historical then should be a good entertainment for you. But if you are one for romance I do not recommend this drama. FL, is not a fawning lovestruck loyal person but a pragmatic survivor and a brilliant tactician in the world of scheming imperial politics during one of China's early dynasties. I remember a part in the story where she did gauge SML love for her then later said something similar along these lines: I gave you up because you gave us up. You had a choice but you choose to marry another not putting your trust in us. I also remember she did not have feelings for the emperor but eventually fell in love while she is using her womanly wiles and intellect to make the emperor fall for her. I say ending is still good regardless of some characters dying as this is really more a story between an emperor and his favorite concubine.

5 years since I first watched Chinese drama series specifically The Untamed that I also started to silently read comments in kisskh and heavily rely on these to watch or not. Since then every time my attention is caught by a drama or two I immediately come here to MDL and check your comments ladies and gents which has been my guide since then. This is the first time I saw a lot of acidic and boisterous comments in a drama series (looked like everybody wants to be the scriptwriter, director and actor all in one 😅) This is legendary as no drama series has ever affected readers of MDL and watchers of an ongoing series - this is also first time that I pushed myself to create an account interact 🤣🤣
Speaking of "novel made into a movie" best of the best; read "Lord of the Rings" novel series which is one of the novel classics and famous fantasy novel in English world; after which, watch Peter Jackson's movie interpretation of the novel in three parts. Both were fantastic both famous in their own rights especially the movie even with a lot of deviations.
Coming back to this drama series "Are you the One"; even though I have not read reviews of the novel I would say this movie made the novel so popular that reviews for the TV series was now pitted and mashed against the novel events; or was it the other way around? 😅

so far I see our girl is on the right track as far as story goes... not easily forgiving and not giving away her feelings towards the other.... I see it reversed vis-a-vis common stories where men are usually the cold, stone-faced protagonists - director here is showing the other face: women can also be that ice-cold...

I started reading the novel but immediately stopped because I expect a lot of deviations which they did and so far my expectations are met for a light and entertaining drama. As much as I love historical dramas; I hate angsts and tribulations (maybe because from where I came from we did not experience historically royals ruling my country). For those looking for a brilliant female tacticians amidst adversity I recommend: - Story of Yanxi Palace - Princess Rebel - Princes Agents Just don't spoil this ongoing tv series by constantly comparing between what happened in the novel and what is happening on these series lest you enjoy being bitter while watching 😂 cheers! :)
