Guys, could you point me to a new series? something fun and not dramatic? I wait patiently here for your suggestions…
I'm not sure if you consider scenes with random shouting as dramatic (just part of japanese overacting i guess), but I've really enjoyed Ossan's Love (Japanese BL). Super funny show and deserves more international recognition.
This was such a surprisingly good show! I literally laughed out load at certain scenes, which happens very rarely. Highly recommened! If only the japanese did not scream at totally random moments and consider this as "good acting", together with being more open to putting shows on streaming platforms like youtube (should learn a thing or two from the thais), it will probably become popular around the world.
I am finally going to say my feelings about this drama I am really disappointed, this is the worst from history…
It's not as good as "Trapped", but it has it's own special flair :) I think they should've added some plot and attached the romantic component as part of the plot, this is what makes "Trapped" interesting. At this point it's all about the relationship and except for "my parents died and I'm really into my grades, and oh, I'm not into food that much or maybe I am when it's not a burden to anyone (eyeroll)" we literally don't know anything else about the characters. In addition, it looks like they are just going down the same road as many before them "insert jealous gf/friend of gf doing something revengful" "insert parents not accepting main character likes a guy" "i hate you/now i love you" but i'm still watching, and i think the dramatic parts should be here soon, or at least i hope so...
For a pretty simple story, there is something surprisingly heart-warming about this show. Also, the way the main couple behaves and the things they say... It sounds authentic, other BLs should take notes.
Plus Manaow charachter is exactly the same goofy charachter sammy is doing since lovesick that I am ok if is a…
I've only watched it once, but I feel pretty much the same way, it was a bit boring, not to mention how everything was super unrealistic, they shoot themselves in the head and there were only two drops of blood?!? I mean, it's not a horror movie, but c'mon try to have some fake blood on the floor or something, how small was the budget for this thing? I'm surprised that this comment section is so positive about this episode, it's like a 4 or 5 for me, from 10.
This show left such an impression on me that I wanted to register on this webiste to comment. On a whim I've been watching this whole month various BL shows from Taiwan and Thailand. This show is very different from the usual fantasy Thai ones where everyone is accepted and the romantic couple lives happily ever after. What this show tries to do is a more realistic representation of actual gay love (if you disregard the scene at the swimming pool, where the random guy you've been taking photos without permission suddenly slams you against the wall and kisses you passionately *rolleyes*). It was at times hard to watch due to similarities to my own dating experience, especially the part where Yan Fei wants to break-up and Jimmy didn't and being presented as a "roommate" even after being together for 4 years (been there, done that). If you've been on the dating scene for a while, I'm sure many could draw similar examples from their lives.
I read other commentators writing that Hai Qing was very selfish and condemn his actions. You have to take into account that humans are compex beings with complex emotions and not everything we do is logical. And most of the time we are driven by selfishness and our subconscious desires. And this is what the show does well, it sends a message, that you can be the perfect boyfriend, like Ping Jun, you can care about someone deeply, you can invest your time and energy in them, but in the end, it does not really matter. People will ony take their selfish interests into account when making decisions. The couple, Hai Qing and Yan Fei, is a side product to the central message: don't be a Jimmy, be a Ping Jun. Even if you have to cry in the elevator afterwards, draw the line and let them go. Don't cling on and wait for them to change. At least for me, on a personal level, this had the biggest impact, and I would like to thank the writers for sending such a strong message.
So yeah, if you are looking for two guys kissing, while rainbows and unicorns appear around them, this is probably not the show for you. If you want a more realistic representation of gay love, you should definitely watch and learn.
