Honestly one of the better modern cdramas out there-- beautiful cast (very important to me lol), interesting storyline, no crazy evil antagonist, good pace in building of relationship... honestly just a really easy drama to binge. Finished in three days.
oh my goodness why did I watch this so late 😭 Love our main couple but I can't help feeling such affection for our high school leads 🩵 Their chemistry and the way they portrayed the sadness of their hurdles just added so much feeling to the story, I cried so much more in their scenes. The breakup mixed with misunderstanding, YunJiwon's POV of experiencing all her hardship with no one by her side, SeokJiwon's POV of contacting her and waiting to see her not knowing she was also waiting for him just HIT ME IN THE HEART oh my goodness. 😮💨 I wish they had another show together because we got so little bts or any interviews with them.
I know this is cliche and standard which I’m guessing is why it’s a 7.5 but honestly this is the kind of drama I always gravitate towards. A modern drama with a romance that grows and keeps me smiling like an idiot. No super intense conflicts or evil antagonists— just annoying ones lol. In a world of chaos and not having a moment to breathe, this is the perfect deep inhale of oxygen to give ourselves a nice relaxing break. I will say though, I’m picky and I have to like both male and female leads. I’m kind of surprised it’s been a year and I just came across this! That being said… any suggestions like this hahahah
I keep coming back to this because WOW. This was honestly the best costume Chinese drama I've watched-- and I've watched a LOT. Our main couple is obviously the cutest and my favorite, but I was really surprised how the drama itself was divided into episodes to give each sister their story. I was a bit upset to see less and less of my OTP but honestly the other couples really grew on me. Love their relationship off screen too, I literally cannot stop watching the little fan clips of them acting like a real couple. Too cute I cannot. May Netflix never get rid of this. 9/10!!
The change from 36 to 23 episodes has really hurt the series.
Omg no wonder it felt so rushed… did they film enough and they edited to reduce the episodes? Or did they know it would be shortened as they were filming??
LOL that medicinal introduction for ep 23... with all the censorship in China I would never have thought I would see the word "va*****" as a subtitle lmao
Truly a beautiful drama. Went into it expecting the butterflies I got from every episode of Hidden Love, but it's definitely more on the mature and heartwarming side. I think this is why it took a while for it to grow on me, but the last few episodes had me crying so hard. The idea of "unconditional love" was displayed so beautifully here, you can't help want something so innocent and limitless for yourself 🥲 All the characters were phenomenal, and I'm glad with the way the writers semi-closed each conflict.
Man I am LOVING this drama so far- only on episode 5 but every episode is so enticing. Doesn't hurt that I find Wang Xing Yum hot af, but the FL is also so naturally pretty. Their chemistry is already off the charts. Idk why ppl find this bad, I saw a lot of ppl dropping it bc it's "misogynistic" but it's literally a period drama-- women were considered less than men in basically every country's history. And it's nothing different from what we're used to... tbh some of it isn't even surprising given current society. Also love the friendship between the sisters, their bond is so heart warming. I'm interested in how apparently most of the sisters will end up with love interests. So far, no antagonist who annoyingly gets away with everything all the time. Fingers crossed it stays this way!
Coming back here to give this a second chance after seeing the FL play a different character in First Frost-- one who isn't cringe and I actually like. Idk how I'm going to keep watching her character act like a child (yes I know she's only 16 in the beginning). Anyone know how long this lasts?? I really want to give this a shot since so many ppl are obsessed x(
Doing some research before starting-- how is this related to Ancient Love Poetry? How's the villain vibe... I love a smart good villain but sometimes they kill all my favorite characters and just get so annoying, it ruins the drama for me. Also, how is the pace of the romance???
The girls are prettiest this season, but also that much more cookie-cutter. I can't even remember their names and who went on dates with who lol. I do want to see who ends up with who though. The guys on the other hand... wow where is their confidence coming from 😂 except that one UDT guy who seems to value authenticity in a partner, the others are too full of themselves. Such a turn off.
