oh my goodness, what an awesome review. that was all I needed, found it right away and now I’m ready to start watching. thank you for your hard work! ❤️

wow, really? That’s so encouraging…sometimes it’s a bit hard to get hated on for saying what you know is the truth and needs to be said. But just one nice person having your back makes all the difference, and you’re pretty much the nicest. ❤️ I’m looking up your recommendations, especially Adim Farah!

lol, while I was reading your last comment, I thought “that’s why I always go back to the classic Korean and Chinese dramas in the end. They’re really unbeatable.” And then I read you said the same thing haha! I absolutely agree about the Thai dramas, and I also watched a bit into a Turkish one that I LOVED the beginning storyline and the leads were really seeming promising…but, wow! I could not believe how abusive they made him, and I wanted so badly for her to get a grip and smack him half the time!! haha! I’m all for treating men as well as women want to be treated, but glorifying male abuse is just as toxic as what we’ve been talking about. I honestly can even tolerate if they’re kind of not pleasant and rude at first, if you know what I mean. No actual abuse, but sometimes it’s a nice storyline if they learn to be kind and loving as they go. But the Turkish ones I’ve seen are awful. I’ve only seen a few, though, so maybe I just didn’t pick well.
I think it was so cool that we ran across each other on here! I really appreciate your insights and your thoughts! 🥰
wow this fl is making it almost impossible to watch. I really want to because I’m intrigued as to the story line, but she is so harsh, insubordinate, stupid and immature. She walked onto the job acting like she was the captain after messing up royally, and it just keeps rolling from there. ugh. I just finished episode 3, I’ll give it another episode or so then I’m dropping it. I understand character arcs, but there needs to be something, literally anything, that makes me cheer for the character’s success. She is so obnoxious that right now all I want is for him to fire her and go with the obviously enamored second fl.

100% spot on. I think they’re trying to cater to western “woke” audiences while failing to realize that those same values and ideologies were what had us leaving our own entertainment and watching theirs to begin with. It’s the same concept as here in the US, people are leaving California in droves because their ridiculous idiocy has ruined the state, literally. They then move to places like Texas and Florida, where things are way better while also very conservative. As soon as they get to their new utopia, they immediately try to take over and do the same thing that ruined where they came from. It’s lunacy, and so maddening. I only explained in case you aren’t from the US…if you are, you already know what’s going on lol.
I really think that the path Asian entertainment is on will lead them to where America’s has ended up. Nobody wants to watch what’s made here because when you follow that woke ideology, eventually only one story is acceptable. Different variations of “Bad, ignorant, misogynistic man is wrong. While being wrong, he encounters powerful female who teaches him….that he is wrong. He makes mistakes and causes powerful female to make mistakes (which aren’t her fault at all), until finally accepting….that he is wrong. All this, while being rescued and scolded by powerful female. the end.” It’s not just unrealistic but boring.

probably because it’s normalized to have the male lead always be the one in the wrong, abused and betrayed, just needing to be grateful for whatever affection the fl decides to give him.
The rest of the drama was really well done, though, which also contributed to its high rating, I’m sure. It just drives me crazy how this bahavior is training impressionable girls to have unhappy relationships for the rest of their lives. Because, whether people want to admit it or not, impressionable people ARE going to emulate what they see, and also expect all men to behave like this.
Thank goodness someone has some sense and knows exactly what lense it was meant to be portrayed through. The other…
if you abandon the innocent man you say you love to support your parent’s erroneous view of him, leaving him all alone and abandoned during the worst days of his life, then you have no business dating and need to stay home with daddy and mommy until the end. You really don’t have your priorities straight. Nothing was stopping her from telling her parents they were wrong about him and likely his father, too, and that he’s the man she loves and she believes in him with all her heart. Her parents hopefully would listen, but if not, they had each other. He had no one.
Seems to be a common trope in Chinese dramas that the FL can treat the ML like literal garbage and that’s considered cute or justified on her end. The “heartfelt” promise to “see things through together no matter what” only applies if SHE is in trouble. If HE is in trouble, she immediately throws him away like a used napkin with cruelty and utter lack of empathy, even while you can tell they’re somehow trying to make you feel sorry for HER, not him.
Then when he still tries to be there for her ungrateful self (usually when she foolishly puts his life at risk and he has to save her), she responds with anger, and makes sure he knows that her abuse of him is HIS fault. He is allowed zero expectation of privacy; he gets no support from her unless he first submits to her every demand and lays bare every private and raw detail of his life in the face of her betrayal and gaslighting, all while she maintains the right to hold back whatever she doesn’t want to share about herself. It’s so disgusting, and ruins the wonderful storylines they’ve otherwise crafted.
why, WHY do they keep making dramas encouraging people to unalive themselves if their partner dies/wants to die? The White Olive Tree was the same…this is dangerous and NOT an ok message to be sending to people who are potentially already considering this as a way out…
