Making movie/drama is expensive, tbh I think that's the biggest hurdle when adapting a novel. Some shots looks simple but it can be so costly to make those simple shots. I never watch an adaptation exactly as novel. They always need trim the fat. I know it is frustrating but it is what it is. As long it still retain same feeling without too much plot holes, I must say adaptation is successful.
Example : Novel author simply can write " an emerald in the seabed " in just couple second on their bed. But is that easy to filming? Of course not. Production team will decide if the scene of " an emerald in the seabed ' is necessary for overall plot or they can left it out.

Because novel is not same medium as moving picture. Novel using third person monologue to explain every little of details. You can't do that in movie/drama.

He never grey or villain, he straight good guy. He just kill people that deserve it, a traitor and evil people. His reputation tarnished because jealous noble house and other generals. SO many people had grudge against him.
