oh noo hahaha I loved Hospital Playlist, easy 10/10 for me hahaha But hey, we all like different things, good…
" The same way I would not eat a poorly done dish in a restaurant, the same way I won't force myself to watch a drama I don't like" AWESOME analogy, definitely stealing this one!
Great article and so very relatable to most long-time Drama addicts I.m sure. For me,once I started dropping, I eventually settled into a "give it 4 episodes" rule. I still try to do that, but first episode drops have been much more common in the last 12 months than ever, mostly C Dramas, but some K Dramas too - like Hospital Playlist which bored me rigid within 10 minutes and I knew I'd never survive its stupidly long episode lengths. . The only Drama that I am REALLY glad I picked up again after a drop was A Poem A Day, dropped at ep 9, after resumption it ending scoring a 9.
What's probably saved me from dropping some Dramas is that I never watch streaming, only downloaded. So FF is REAL easy, and many of my Dramas are watched OTP-only or STP only, with massive FF.
As you say, the key is "no shame". I've dropped more "must see" Dramas than I could count, and have ZERO guilt. Dramas are entertainment, if they don't entertain you, drop and move on. Life is too short - a cliché whose truth becomes more evident the older we get. Thanks again for a wonderfully written summary of the journey so many of us have taken :)
Which should i watch first?"In my time with you" or "i dont love you yet"?
As a general rule, I would always suggest watching the original before any remake. "In Time With You" is the one the others were based on, watching it first lets you see the choices the other versions made in terms of what they kept and what they changed.
He did an excellent job of his role in The Love Equations - hated the character right to the end, would have rated the Drama higher if he'd died horribly.
A nice article and I more or less agree with the common views expressed in the comments - I still prefer ITWY, but that's largely because of the astonishing chemistry between Ariel and Chen. The Fl in the J version is MUCH nicer than Ariel's character in ITWY, and the overall tone of the Drama is better for it. It just laced a certain something, but I suspect that if I'd seen it first it would have score even higher for me than it did.
SOUL MATE - amazing movie totally carried by two great female actors at the top of their game. Zhou Dongyu and Ma Sichun totally deserved their joint best actress win. Start with this gem of a movie
I dropped this Drama after reading the big reveal, and my reaction is the same as yours. That's why I've voted your review as helpful, because people need to know how AWFUL the core plot device really is
We Need to add India country to MDL, I know their's alot but at least add Hindi, My favorite Hindi films are Dilwale…
"The best things about Bollywood movies are 1. The Story 2. The actors 3. The Music" - For me, the music comes first, but mostly in the REALLY old films, when the songs were written by lyrical geniuses and poets like Sahir Ludhianvi. I hope your exploration of Indian cinema takes you back to the 50s-70s in Hindi cinema. And I also hope it leads you to explore beyond Hindi cinema to Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi and more. . In the meantime, here's my favourite song from my favourite film. Not just my favourite Indian film, just my favourite film, from anywhere and anywhen. I've had 2 t-shirts made with lines from this film printed on them :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z6Lr0JYAro
I too couldn't finish baghban yet! But i remember salman keeping a picture of Amitabh bacchan in temple. The two…
Like my username suggests, zyadaatar meri sabse manpasand hindi ki filme bahut puraani hain, so for "family" recommendations, I would offer Brahmachari , for a special kind of family and the magic of Shammi and Rafi together https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II1_eTlHcHA
My favourite Dramaland parent-child bond is the one in Bara No Nai Hanaya, with the r94 parents not far behind. Of the 400 or so Indian films I've watched Baghban must be the WORST - the very CONCEPT is repellent, that a parent is "God", and there's not a single likeable character in the film. Amitabh has been in some very dire films in his long career, that stinker a serious contender for top 3 awful
