yeah chinese ancient setting drama some times show violence because many bloody scene or action/fighting scene.…
Thanks for the rec! I like Tang Son Yun, too, so I will keep an eye on this one,. I don't watch Dramas streaming, but will download when it's done.

Lovely to see several of my favourites listed, thank you! I hate fantasy and supernatural elements, and don't watch historical Dramas because I have zero tolerance for violence, so Go Go Squid, Put Your Head On My Shoulder, The Love Equations, My Love Enlighten Me are the sort of C Dramas I enjoy the most. I just wish they abandoned the awful dubbing. I really HATE dubbed voices, it's my number one bugbear with C-Dramas. But to end my comment on a positive note, I will say that one of the most OUTSTANDING Dramas I've seen in 7 years of watching East Asian content is one that very seldom gets mentioned, sadly. I wish more people would watch Mr Fighting to see how well China can do realistic low-key Dramas that focus on powerful acting and intelligent writing.

Lol what about strong woman do bong soon lol?
She lost her powers for a while, and only got them back thanks to "the love of a good man", so that one DEFINITELY fits the profile I'm talking about. It is a particularly noxious example, actually, and one reason why I hated and dropped it.

Title True Colours
most actions by the ML make sense when you realize he has the "too much" gene. too much money, too entitled, too…
I definitely agree with "too much money, too entitled, , too annoying, too jealous, too loud, too much complaining," - after four episodes, I'd seen "too much" of him. Another drop.

I will wait on this one - if I had a yuan for every "female bodyguard" show where the FL ended up needing to be PHYSICALLY protected by the ML, I could shoot my own Drama. If this Drama DOESN'T go there, it will earn my respect.

An interesting list, thanks for sharing. the Korean ones in particular include many sad or bitter stories, which might be why I avoided most of the ones you mentioned and dropped several others - the parents in both Ojakgyo Brothers and Marry Me Now a very big part of why I dropped them :) . Being a brony and a sucker for happy endings My personal favorite parenting Drama is Bara No Nai Hanaya, the 'love story' between the father and child the real heart of the Drama. :)

I have close to zero tolerance for violence, so historicals are REALLY not for me, but one with a low-ish body count and with the VERY, I mean EXTREMELY, rare distinction of being a Korean Drama with a FEMALE genius lead (there are almost NO others) is Dae Jang Geum. It's overlong, and repetitive in the middle section, with endless "cook-offs", but the fact that it's based on a real person and named after her makes it well worth watching. If a sageuk anti-fan like me enjoyed, you might even more.

As someone else said, "finally someone talking about Girl's Generation 1979" - I loved it so much it made my "10+" list, https://kisskh.at/list/O38nwv91 Kill Me Heal Me probably deserves even more credit for the fact that its saving grace was Ji Seong's stunning performances as multiple characters -after signing on as lead barely 2 weeks before shooting began!

Be ruthless - life is short, with MANY Dramas you will love out there. I never even started DotS, Pinocchio was sort of OK but not worth pushing yourself your, and Forest had me snoring by the end of ep 1. "To thine own self be true" grab something new. :)

:( Out of 226 dramas, I've only watched 5 that I consider a 10/10 masterpieces, and only 2 of those are what I'd…
It's purely an emotional, gut response - when I'm left feeling Wow! in a way that merely excellent Dramas don't. And as that list shows, it's seldom a mainstream hit :)

Hype is really a synonym for being popular to me. And obviously things that are popular aren't ALWAYS good and…
"PS, I would love someone to breakdown the shows some of these gifs are from! I only recognize the TKEM one." Me too - I think there's Arthdal, TKEM (LMH) and Hotel de Luna (IU), but I haven't seen any of the shows featured, so I'm not sure

An interesting read, thanks for sharing. My personal Drama tastes are such that the pros of the hype culture outweigh the cons - I quickly find out if the Drama will be for me or not. In the last 4 years, I have only completed maybe 2 really hyped Dramas, "Prison Playbook" "Crash Landing On You", while dropping some like Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Weightlifting Fairy, The Tale of Nokdu Flower and dodging all the rest - Goblin, DotS, Hotel de Luna, TKEM, etc (including the all the mega-hyped C-Dramas). The flood of commentary reactions and spoilers is invaluable because it saves me wasting time starting Dramas I would loathe. Hail the hype, I say! :)

It looks like the newly-started Flower of Evil - female cop discovers her loving husband is a psychopathic serial…
You're right, it will all turn out to be a HUGE misunderstanding - in the final episode it will be revealed that the kid got so fed up with him wasting breakfast foods she yelled "You're a cereal killer!"

It looks like the newly-started Flower of Evil - female cop discovers her loving husband is a psychopathic serial killer. An everyday occurrence in Dramaland, natch. :)

I've just realised why I was so even-handed in my reaction to the differing opinions presented - 30 but 17 was one of only 2 Dramas on the list I actually finished (Her Private Life, 7/10) - Suspicious Partner and K2 both dropped, the rest you quite literally couldn't pay me to watch. Vive la différence!
Jeana Aug 2, 2020
In a wonderfullly balanced performance, I'm delighted that I was able to side with each of you on at least one Drama - Jeana for 30 but 17 (describing imo the Age vs IQ of the writer) and Minarii for K2, who's 3.5 represents twice the umber of episodes of that drek I managed to finish - SERIOUS kudos for getting through it all! Thank you both for sharing such an interesting read, though I personally found 7 vs 9 and 6.5 vs 8.5 a bit tame - a 2vs 9 or 1 vs 10 showdown would have been *bloody* good fun :D
