He Yan thought XJ doubted she could become a female general but instead he was open minded. He didn't limit her but still keeps her grounded. And she needs someone exactly like that especially after her restrained upbringing.

Ep. 13: I just really wanted to highlight this part because it makes my heart melt. XIao Jue is literally the perfect match for He Yan.

Also, did anybody watch Reborn with Zhang Jingyi and Zhou Yiran? These moon references make me instantly think of their moon references.

Also, I love how both of our leads are subtly proud of each other. The little smirks and expressions on their face when they hear of each other's accomplishments is so cute.

I finished Ep.9 and why did they get my head turning like that when he casually said, Miss He? 😲 but why did she not seemed to be as fazed by it. I know she's alarmed and keeping cool to not reveal her real self but I'm so horrible I'd instantly probably give it away with my reactions. lol

See. When I hear her inner thoughts, it helps to remind me that she's putting on a facade so I'm ok with that part. It's us having to watch her wanting to reclaim everything but I can't seem to hype her up bc all I can base things off is the betrayal from her family.

I like the drama so far but I feel the same about establishing He Yan. I wish we had more context to connect with her as a character.

Omg! Watching Ep. 5 I kept forgetting that he already knew she was a girl. That lantern scene was so stinking cute with his cute reactions to her actions. Eeekkkk. I love them so much.

As a non-reader of the novel, thanks for your first point. I'm trying my best to understand and be patient with the backstory because I was hoping to see more of her glorious general days.

That's my thing too. I question the intensity of her being a General because if ML is also a General with his own team, shouldn't she? Or even have a sidekick of some sort. I'm patiently waiting to see how they reveal her backstory if they do because I truly want to vibe with her baddie general side.

I just finished Ep. 3 and I think it's pretty ok. I only wish we could get a little more emphasis on her hard work as a general to truly understand and connect with her determination to reclaim everything. Unless, the little bits of backstory in the beginning of each episode is supposed to help build that then my apologies.

Side note: I know LMD has been AI swapped with Li Qing but there's something off about it. At a quick glance it still looks like LMD but I know its not him. I've watched a good amount of LMD's dramas and I still see more of his demeanor in the character so I wonder if that's what makes it kind of unnatural to watch.
