Just finished, loved it but some moments or situations just really didn't have to happen... it was kind of a lot and there are still some loose threads. The ending felt rushed, a little disappointed since it started out so good but the way they rushed the last episode... Disappointed should have shown more of the TCM but yeah... 40 episodes limit.
I would LOVE to see Zhao Lusi and Lu Yizhou in another drama though, probably will never happen, but one can hope. The couple just didn't have enough screen time...
Ohh! What I loved the most in this drama was the relationship between Shifu and Sun Toutou , I just mean the way he always tried and did his best to protect her. He may not have been a good father and husband, but he was the best Shifu for Toutou

The FL is a strong and independent woman. Although the ML is the reason she returned, he isn’t the only reason. She has found her own purpose by opening the pension/guesthouse. She knows what she wants. She’s honest, likes to be prepared and is straightforward. She mentioned in the beginning that it wouldn’t matter if her future s.o. has a small salary, since she is able to provide for them. She would not be in relationship only to rely on her other half, she would still work hard.
The ML is a nice guy and one of the most educated person the village. He came back after he left to help the villagers improve their lifestyle, to stop people from leaving and therefore helping the children to not be separated from their parents like he was. To do all that he started dipping his hands in all those different projects and helping everyone who is willing to listen or to ask for help. It seems like everything was resting on his shoulders, which we can only imagine how difficult it could be.
The FL knows that and even before they started dating she already knew how difficult and tiring it was for him. As the girlfriend she would obviously wish for him to have an easier life which starts with sharing burdens/problems. So when the ML keeps a secret from her again, she is obliviously super unhappy and irritated, since he did promise transparency… By not telling her anything she was totally unprepared when those men, stormed her workplace and didn’t know what was going on.
So when they fought, she threw words at him that were totally untrue but were also supposed to show the ML how secrecy in a relationship could escalate quickly. Although he had good intentions, her accusations were supposed to show him what kind of thoughts she could develop if he continues to shelter her from problems. It was supposed to tell him that it was ok to talk to her and that he did not have to take on everything by himself and that his behavior could lead to the end of their relationship. The ML hadn’t completely adjusted to a partner who was willing to share his burden and that’s what made her mad and sad?
When she talked to the granny about it, she did mention that she was only still fighting with him to correct his wrong behavior… So yeah, I agree that those word she said were wrong but it was explained as to why she said it. A little disappointing that she did not apologize for the words she said but without those words the ML would have not realized what a big no-go it was for her? Her not apologizing made her character more realistic though, no? As she said near the end, she’s just another human, who will have her temper and moments…
I actually watched the movie first before watching the drama because I just can’t with love triangles… 🙄 but the movie really convinced me to finally watch the drama and I was surely not disappointed!
However, one thing really bugs me: why didn’t CYR tell the police the schoolmate Xie was the person who harmed her? … I know, I n the end it wouldn’t have changed anything because he wasn’t the one to kill her and he was… well, possessed by his younger brother, but still! There was a psycho on the loose and after her, she was afraid and yet she didn’t do anything even though she did tell HYX that she would not want to die (before she got busted for pretending to be HYR)….huh? That girl Chen Yu Ru really knows how to push buttons
How's the romance or chemistry between main leads?
The director put a lot of thoughts into how to portray the romance while directing and he was very successful in my opinion. And let me tell you, the ML’s confession has to be the best one of all the dramas I’ve watched up until now.
A really nice drama! The relationship between the parents and children, siblings, friends… really relatable! And the whole “I’m supposed to care for my parents now that I’m older and not otherwise” … so,true.! I felt that. Definitely going to rewatch it.
The only con in this drama is that it makes me want to find a place like that, too :P
I especially love the screenwriter and director combo, been loving their past productions!
Has anyone else read that the director supposedly will edit the drama again and release more content by the coming New Lunar Year? Supposedly there are 10 episodes missing and the drama was rushed to its release, which is why the second part seemed so rushed during the ending. ... Hopefully it's true! I mean, the ending was good but could have been better...
One of the few times were I can actually imagine a second season, e.g. them getting into the national team and prepping for a bigger league while facing new teammates and hardships…. But second season are always difficult 😞
Laughed a lot while watching and there were also cute scenes. Some topics mentioned were really realistic (relationship between the famous and their fans) but the lives of the e-sports gamer were less realistic. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it
As expected from a drama based on Gu Man's book. Sweet, cute, and lovely. But somehow I expected more from the ending, not saying that it was bad, I just expected more?
Growing up in a Chinese household a lot of scenes and lines just seem so familiar but yet different. I'm glad that my parents weren't as strict. It was hard to watch how suffocating parents could be but it was also interesting to watch how they go through their last year of High School and how they overcome everything through friendship and with the help of family. There were also a lot of funny scenes! :D Seeing comments commenting that it's way too long... It's like this: If you like/love a drama, you don't really care how long it is as long as you find it interesting :P
For once I do not wish for a second season just because I am SO satisfied with the ending. It was happy, romantic, and meaningful and also had a funny scene :)
