I'm only on episode 18, but I'm really enjoying seeing actor Huang You Ming as Ye Bai Ye. I remember him as the scummy villainous disciples in Love and Redemption and Legend of Fuyao. He's much better as the cool OP guy in white.

Most (if not all) of these Chinese dramas are made inside China (subject to Chinese laws), with Chinese crew and companies (who are accountable for their work), for people in China to watch (with their own standards/expectations) - so there are different considerations they may have to take into account in making/producing these dramas to get them aired.

The voice actor for Changing Ghost (the guy with black lipstick and a tall black hat) has such an unusual, smooth, deep voice - really suits the character's conniving and sinister personality.

I really liked Huang Ming and was so happy to see him in a great role like Ye Bai Yi in Word of Honor. After seeing his role as the scummy disciple in Love and Redemption, and the conflicted disciple in Legend of Fuyao, it was a breath of fresh air to see him as powerful immortal grandpa Ye Bai Yi. The scenes where he was taunting Wen Ke Xing until they bickered and fought were gold. I hope he does more non-villainous roles in the future so viewers can root for him.

The Untamed novel is completely translated. I'd suggest you start from the first chapters listed, as they go straight from 1 to 126 (end).

Is Prince of Jin supposed to be a drama version of Crown Prince Helian Yi from the Lord Seventh (Qi Ye) novel? I thought Zhou Zishu stayed as the leader of the Window of Heaven until after the Crown Prince became Emperor.

I thought you meant their characters/interactions were off. In Poison Genius Consort, it's a transmigration - the FL is a Prince's official wife with OP powers, and the ML is a cold ice cube for most of the story. In Way of Favours it's a double rebirth - she's a weak maiden/concubine for most of the story and the ML is stalking her obsessively. If you meant the visuals, the costume and makeup in Blooms were different/odd for sure.

Poison Genius Consort (Legend of Yunxi) and Way of Favours (Blooms at Ruyi) are also very different novels with very different leads.

Read a book, then watch a modern k-drama, then Douluo Continent or Word of Honor (both recent, both good) or another drama. Or rewatch Untamed again!

Random thoughts while rewatching Ep. 50: 1) Gusu Lan clan added another 1,000 rules? How could they...2) If you read chapters 111-126 of the novel, they really complete the story from the drama. 3) I'd recommend watching the drama, reading the novel, then after knowing all the plot twists, re-watching the drama. 4) The music and the lead's expressions seem even better on a second watch. Rewatching The Untamed helped me get through another chunk of the pandemic. Time to find a new drama to binge.

Random thoughts while rewatching Ep. 45: 1) I love how LWJ just lets WWX do all the talking and run the investigative detective show, while LWJ stands behind him in silent, broad-shouldered support. 2) Aww, Lan Sizhui grew up so well!

Random thoughts while rewatching Ep. 40: These in-character, in-episode, ads of LWJ and Lan Suzhui eating instant noodles are so odd and funny.

Random thoughts while rewatching Ep. 36: 1) These teenagers, Lan Sizhui, Jin Ling, etc., are so cute. They grew up in a time of prosperity, so they're not scarred like the older generation. They're so bright-eyed and bushy tailed in their eagerness and chivalry as they follow WWX around. 2) Ha. Even Little Apple got kicked out of Gusu Lan clan for being too noisy. 3) Watching LWJ float down from the sky to the rescue never gets old.
