This isn't something new though. Everytime a bl gets too popular their fandom starts giving other BLs low scores so their fav will be #1 rated BL.
I remeber SOTUS stans giving Together With Me and Crossing The Line low scores so SOTUS would be #1.
This might be flood from that fandom which happens to be extremely toxic and believe that their fav is the most incredible series ever made, even though the series is pretty bad.
Compared to other asian countries, Thailand do make more gay themed shows, but most of the shows and the most viewed aren't BL/gay themed (usually BL air on cable channels and streaming services only). Thai BL just happens to be posted on youtube/international line links so people all around the world can watch it for free, so it's more accessable and they get more buzz internationally.

The direction itself is pretty above avarage thai directing. The script that isn't very good. Most people are complaining cause of the comedy tone the series has, but that's like the standart for thai bls, they just got a little more serious last year.

Fluke's awkward acting has someone to blame: poor acting direction.
I really dunno what happened here. New knew that the novel was short, he wrote 12 episodes than streched it for 16 even though he didn't have enought story to tell? Obviously it would feel draggy and empty. I can't stand the product placement too. We all know that thai series have awkward placements, but come on! They spend 1/3 of the epsiodes appling lipstick while cooking! GMM isn't a great exemple of product placement, but they at least limit them to certain portions of their series.
I also find annoying how the fans say that this show celebrates Thai cousine. No it doesnt, they filled the series up with long cooking scenes cause they didn't have a story to tell! Wanna watch shows that REALLY celebrated their country's cousine? Try the japanese "Ossan's Love In the Sky" and "What Did You Eat Yesterday?"
New is a good cinematographer, but a terrible director....

Haha I think we complain about acting cause most the cast here are seniors and trained by GMM TV.
LBC and TT actors were rookies so much of the fandom think it's ok if they lack skills (I myself found dificult to abstract from the poor acting of these 2 series).
