These are such great recommendations even though I haven't fully seen most of them (The Winter That Blows and A Gentleman's Dignity). The only one I finished was Autumn's Concerto and is indeed a favorite of mine as well. I remember/heard of the popularity of all of these shows. Seems like they're appearing together in one scene, but if they're technically one person, it's all in Soo Yeol head or he just looks really crazy talking to himself or something. okay, just to be clear cause I'm kind of lost on K and Soo Yeol... K and Soo Yeol are one person? And unlike Kill Me, Heal Me (2017) where Ji Sung plays all of his personalities, K derives from Soo Yeol with a whole different look? Obviously, I haven't watched it yet but now I'm really intrigued to XD

Your article just reminded me that I need to catch up on Thai movies. I probably neglect them more than lakorns ^^" and I have my eyes on a lot of these already. The Cave is probably on top of my list to watch. I remember all the new surrounding it when it issue first broke out. I was following it closely and did even watched the documentary on it.

I've only seen his earlier stuff like his breakout drama with Zhao Liying in "The Legend of Luzhen" and his movie with Zhou Dong Yu in "The Palace." Some of his other popular dramas are "The Romance of the Condor Heroes 2014" and "Nothing Gold Can Stay." I've kept up with his other releases but just never watched them but these newer ones seems interesting so I'll definitely check them out when they air.

Love these types of articles from you as it allows me to be exposed to even more shows! I've been waiting for Being a Hero. I personally haven't watched Chen Xiao in anything for years now. It'll be interesting to see him in his newer projects. Wanting to see his new one with Liu Yi Fei as well (A Dream of Splendor).

I was waiting for this lovely review when I saw it on the queue. I didn't watch it ep by ep as there aren't subtitles but I followed some of the performances & heard of some of the controversies with a few cast members. I honestly like how Chinese singing shows gather musicians/artists from different walks and put them together. While I don't care much for the competition aspect, seeing them work together and producing an astonishing ending result is so fun to watch. I've been kind of hopping in and out of the Our Song series and keeping an eye out for Shine Super Brothers 2 as well. Those ones have subs so I've been selectively enjoying them.

And I continue to learn more about the similarities between the two countries in this comment, thanks for going into more detail. I know that many Asian countries borrows/shares similarities between their culture. It's cool connecting these dots and seeing them being unique in their own way. Although, that's probably why some Chinese neitizens likes accusing some countries of stealing their "original" works. Makes me think of "if you thought about it, someone must've as well". But I agree that China is not lacking in classical poetry, one of the things I wish I can understand better even when it's subbed. The meanings are a lot deeper than what we are given.

haha that's true, making the main cast older just leads onto having veteran actors/actresses onboard. That would lead a perfect dream cast XD Nothing against newer actors and actresses though. Ni Ni can totally pass as someone in her 20s! Not ready to see her play a mom but I'm always excited to see actors do new things to expand their portfolio. lol, I try not to think about how long time has been since I've first seen these actors/actresses' - makes me feel less attacked XDD Yuan Hong's IRL position as a father is being portrayed as an onscreen father <3 so heartwarming

Yay! I really do hope that you like it. It's one of my few rewatched dramas and I discover small appreciations about it each time that I do.

I love anything that remotely is time-related such as time traveling, time loops, seeing the past/future, altering time, etc. One More Time is one of my favorites. The story and themes that it tries to convey on the stages of grief, love, etc. and how it ties into a time loop. <3 I'm already patiently waiting for Reset and there's a number of these where I want to check out already but haven't got to it yet (story of all MLDers). I agree with you guys and your thoughts that time loops can dive deep into a character - if it's the intention. We learn a lot about their story, the emotions they go through, what they're willing to put in/give up, etc. Makes me want to go watch a time loop drama now XD Great job on this fun article!

Woah! I'm sold on this idea! I watched Bride of Habaek when it aired and felt like it was lacking, even without knowing the original source. But based on all the details you provided, this does seem like an easy production for China - something they have done and can do. I am curious if there are any Korean culture based themes that would have to be altered to fit into Chinese norm? If so, would that effect much of the original storyline? Nevertheless, you also made me intrigued to check out the web-novel/ webtoon/ web-comic versions as well. Btw, I don't think I can settle with the older generation cast you selected to be 'parents' either :'( I still want to watch them as leads XD But it reminds me of seeing Yuan Hong casted as the dad in 'The Blessed Girl'. It made me sad but happy seeing his journey and how he's evolved throughout the years.

Wonderful points of the pros and cons of Ngao Asoke, Soju! I need to go back and finish the 2018 ver and if I can find the 1999 ver, I wouldn't mind giving that a try as well. I've been wanting to watch older Thai movies/lakorns but where to find them is an issue for me
