Like you, I don't feel like I have the right knowledge to comment on this, even if I have heard of these types of relationships in real life. There are some things in dramaland that I casually glance over in terms of "is this right or wrong?" Sometimes, I'd purposely pick up movies/shows that seems a bit controversial just to ponder on them. I've only recently come to feel a bit off about these "fake siblings" type of dramas because we're actually seeing it a lot more lately. It got me thinking, is it because this occurs more than I think it does? Or what's the message of these shows? and these questions expands further than just this type of genre.

I think my first encounter with some sort of sibling romance was with 'Autumn Tale' and then 'Devil Beside You.' I watched these quite early on in my drama watching experience and didn't think much into them. I haven't seen a bunch of these but I think out of the ones you mentioned, 'That Winter, The Wind Blows,' does seem like it'll be less controversial when it comes to "sibling relationship."

But this was a really well thought out article and an insightful read, Cho Na! Thanks for writing :)

Wow, there's quite a lot of 2021 releases on the ranked/rated. Looking at all of these dramas, I had the same sentiments as your conclusions. Some were no brainers why they were on the list and for others, I was surprised. But I definitely agree that ranks/ratings doesn't matter much. I have been disappointed quite a few times with over hyped shows/highly rated ones. Doesn't mean they're all bad but the expectation I create for myself affected me a lot more than I thought it would.

I don't have a concrete top 10 C-dramas but some of them would include: Ashes of Love, Scarlet Heart, Princess Pearl, and Sound of the Desert. So far, mostly 'historical' dramas but I'll have to think on some of my other watches some more because I always have a tough time compiling favorites. I'm starting watch more modern stuff lately so maybe some of them will climb onto my list as well.

hahah love your take on this! I think all of us have imagined lives inside a drama before. I think I can skip on everything else if I can get one of those "superhuman, drool-worthy character" you speak of XD

you watched all these besides the zombies?
No, I haven't seen all of these. There are a few I've been meaning to check out but I've only seen the Kingdom ones because my friends and I do a big watch party binge on them during the releases. But I wouldn't have considered those horror. So I guess this list gave me a better idea of what horror falls under.
Cho Na Oct 15, 2021
Going through this list, I just realized I'm actually okay with horror. I guess I've been blending it with other types of genres/tags that are associated with horror. However, I don't find zombies all that interesting anymore - even though I'll watch the 3rd installment of Kingdom because I don't want to leave it unfinished.

I have yet to see the show so I only read your opening and last bits. I wasn't too intrigued by the hype to pick it up right away but now I'm quite interested to watch this moral corruption of Sang Woo. I always enjoy seeing characters develop in shows, despite the direction they turn and you wrote a lot for just this one. So it seems like there's a lot to break down with his character and I hope I have time to squeeze this one in soon. While I sadly couldn't enjoy your article to its fullest, I'll be back to revisit if/when I do watch it :)

For some reason, I thought this article was going to be about dramas/movies centered around pets/kids but this was a fun read. Xiao Le will forever be my favorite child wingman! I don't think I've watched many child actors/actress that has stolen my heart as much. I haven't seen Unforgettable Love but Xiao Bao looks adorable. I'm soft for kids with big cheeks! I know I've seen other pet/child wingmen but I can't think of any on the top of my mind but I would surely love to see a pt 2! :)

Oh my god, I really love your detailed review! You’re so good that I feel I don’t need to say much. You’ve…
Thanks for sharing and I'm happy to know you felt the same way I did about the two as well!

I adore the cinematography of the 2019 ver. and the coloring. It matched the mood of the show so so much. I definitely know what you mean by feeling the MC of the drama, I felt so upset as if I was Luo Zhi in the 2019 ver so many times XD

I've said this before but I want to say it again that I adore the way you angle your articles and compare them to other works. I already had this on my list to watch soon but now I'm even more excited to get to it! In fact, you made Twilight itself seem a lot more interesting than how I remember it xD Thanks for presenting such a unique perspective of the show :)

Did you mistaken him with Yeo Jin Goo perhaps? They do look alike. When I first watching him in Goblin, I thought…
No, I saw Yeo Jin Goo grow up - or at least I felt like I did. So I wouldn't have mistaken him for Yeo Jin Goo but now that you mention it, they do have some resemblance! For some odd reason, when I first saw Kim Min Jae, he reminded me of Yoon Shi Yoon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ idk why though

First of all, love those crocs! Second, you took it home with the article by making it just as aesthetically beautiful as the artsy theme of the show. I'm liking all the references to famous art and artists that are well known. And that's a boatload of cliches within 4 episodes xD

I went in and looked at dramas that Kim Min Jae was in and realized I have yet to see any - except the several clips from Hit The Top. But I swore I saw him from something before and it turns out I know him from Show Me The Money XD I do need to catch up on some of his newer stuff. Maybe I'll take this one for a spin. Thanks for sharing it with me! :D

This is my minimalist article, lol. But I thought the drama is short, so if I make a long article it may as well…
I think your article teases just enough of the show. Btw, loved the cape photo and the last gif! And I agree, some popular dramas can be over-hyped and I've been trying to find less popular shows to enjoy as well. I know my list is hefty but I'm always on the lookout. Any other good ones you've come across lately?

I also like time-traveling plots. From my understanding, it seems they are more relaxed about censorship in web…
The first three you listed are on the top of my list to watch after the set that I'm going through xD. I'm weak to any form of time/space travel shows. Is that roommate one s2 to 24 hours? The characters seem like they're the same and I skipped on 24 hours because of lack of subs as well. Which is disappointing because it seems really interesting.

Love how short and sweet this article is to this mini recommendation! I adore the dark comedy at the beginning of the show. The inner monologues, quirky sounds, and animation added in are just an added bonus. Leon plays such a perfect aloof and dorky character and I love it so much. I can tell that the storyline is really well thought out while I was watching. This is something I definitely didn't expect out of China though so I think that's what makes it even more special. You're the best at picking out unique shows and sharing them with the rest of MDL users!

This honestly seems really interesting and I'd definitely try to pick it up if there are Eng subs. Anything psychological added in always makes me curious and presenting a show that includes real issues like this is intriguing. I didn't even know that there is a 30 day resting period law for divorce in China. Thanks for putting this out on everyone's radar :)

Thank you so much for your comment! It certainly took me a while to fine tune everything in the article but youre…
I have yet to see Squid Game. It's getting super popular though that I wanna hop onto the train. Just don't know when I should since I have too many shows on my plate xD

The lax on web dramas makes a lot of sense. I remember the whole Scarlet Heart issue and I thought that the ban on the time travelling trope would be erased in all future dramas but we continued to see it in the following years. I guess whatever that workaround method is has been working but we do get many plotholes instead.
