I'm personally enjoying the show but ya'll have to understand that 7/10 is not a bad rating right....? Also trying to track down "haters" profiles is really weird and stalkerish.
The "actual rating" of the show will be what it is in a month or so after the series ends when people stop obsessing over it from either perspectives.
Despite its flaws, the main cast of characters are all so nice to see. They still fall into certain tropes, but you don't hate any of the characters that you're supposed to like/sympathize with, which is (sadly) a step up from so many productions.
I never like to do this because it completely goes against my beliefs and ideas and maybe what I’m about to…
Ideally that would the case, but if there's an actor as popular as Xu Kai leading the series, the fangirls and the haters will all come together, exaggerating every flaw or overpraising every scene. The only thing people can really do is wait it out after the series end if they want an "accurate analysis".
There are some parts that I absolutely loved, but... idk, the entire thing kind of felt like a veryyyy long teaser for an ACTUAL season 2.
We're constantly getting dragged into these 20 story lines building up into something we know will probably be good, but the build up itself could have slowed down a bit. The fast pace also made some of the deaths feels a bit meaningless... if that makes any sense.
The timeline also is completely jumbled up. We're getting flashbacks in flashbacks in flashforwards and I know story telling does not HAVE to be linear, but it'd be nice to have some sense of whats happening.
It did its job though, and it got me extremely excited to see how they'll thread every story line together again.
the fact that most people here and on twitter are talking about the romance rather than the complicated way each…
Asian dramaland is kinda just plagued by romance brainrot ngl. There's obviously been wonderful romances that have depth and character, but the disregard for relationships other than romance, or the hatred for the "messy and taboo" in a show like *this* is what generally puzzles me the most. You can't expect something out of a show that had no intention to deliver it.
Once again, if you're watching this for romcom style love triangle romance, you're in the wrong place.
Gosh the most recent episodes were tragic in the worst and best ways. What a rollercoaster. You can sympathize with everyone but you also hate them all at the same time.
For the first time in a while, this show was able to use ALL types of relationships (platonic, romantic, professional, filial etc etc) to create tension and add to the thrill in an action-thriller, only for it to be undermined by a vocal minority of the audience that’s unwilling to pay attention to the actual plot.
Not that the show doesn’t have flaws, or that watching it purely for the visuals is wrong, but I feel like if you’re going to critique a series, 1. have the critiques be grounded in the show and what it’s trying to be and 2. pay attention to the main plot. No genre of show is better or worse than the other, but I don’t think it’s fair for people to be reviewing this series and it’s characters as if it was a sweet and fluffy tropey romcom.
I agree, which is why the scene was also so funny to me. The scene felt like something that would happen 44 episodes in, not 14 episodes where the characters basicaly only interracted for half of that time
Pros: The bromance, the bickering, the female characters actually being likeable and holding agency in the story. Interesting worldbuilding. Fight scenes are very well choreographed. Cons: Questionable CGI (which is to be expected), and is sometimes filmed in a way that makes it feel cheap. Qi Xiao Xuan is also a bit dimensionless currently, but it's only the beginning.
There were signs from the beginning that this production was going to be successful. Dedication from the cast, the budget, the green light from the original writer etc etc.
The amount of soul and heart put into it by everyone that was involved basically guaranteed that it would be good because it's impossible they'll allow it to be any less.
Now lets pray they keep listening to the heart for season 2 (and that we don't get Witcher-ed).

Is the drama drought affecting me this much xd
The CGI from the trailer looked good for a cdrama, so I'm assuming they had money... maybe spend a bit of that on acting training for your cast.

Very fun, can't wait for me.

Can’t wait for China to ban them from ever being seen together in public.
