Please don't 🙀. I've been trying, but haven't been able to find decent quality videos. If I ever do, I'll update…
I've subbed up to the 7th or 8th chapter of the series and taking a break because the episode I'm on has audio issues. You can check out my profile for links to all the episodes I've done so far. If you have videos that don't have audio issues, I'd be happy to check them out and continue subbing.
"Standard Chinese"... you mean Mandarin? I'm a native Mandarin speaker and I've seen BTS clips of Xu Kai speaking. He most definitely speaks fluent Mandarin without Cantonese accent.
It's prob not the encoding quality. Moreso, Taiwan's entertainment industry has a much lower budget so it doesn't…
I watched SOOD in 1080p and the video quality is excellent. Please stop with the "lower budget and therefore Taiwanese drama looks cheap" narrative. Higher budget doesn't necessarily equal quality. I'm on episode 3 of ATCY right now and I find the sets and lighting distractingly fake compared to the sets and lighting in SOOD. Jun-hee's office desk practically has nothing on it but her keyboard and monitor. What is she even working on? In one episode, she wakes up but her comforter, sleep position, and clothing looks pristine. My husband and I joked that she's a vampire. When Jun-hee and Si-heon are in the park at night talking, the bright lighting makes it look like they're sitting in broad daylight. I much prefer the sets and lighting in SOOD. They look realistic and - at the end of the day - I prefer realism over big budget.
I finished subbing this and link to download the soft subs is in my profile. Overall, I wasn't very impressed by this drama and didn't do a careful proofreading of the subs as I would normally do. But thought I'd share them anyways, in case anyone wants to watch it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it. I also credit a lot of it to David Hawkes' translation of the books. While I have no issues translating dialogue, I'm no good with poetry. So the poems in the drama are directly from David Hawkes' expert translation of the works and I would recommend his translation of the book to anyone that's interested in reading the text.

Sorry, I don't do subs on request. Subbing is my hobby and I sub the dramas I enjoy that are underrated. It will become a chore if I start taking requests.

Sorry, not taking requests at the moment. I already have some ideas of what I want to work on next. And if I started doing subs by request, it would feel like a chore, rather than a hobby I enjoy.
did anyone undestand why the father "couldn't" come back home? Did it have anything to do with the consequence…
Just my interpretation, but I saw it as her dad not being "of this world" anymore. He left behind his earthly cares and went off with a monk. That's somewhat of a common theme in Buddhist/taoist ideology.
