On My Unfamiliar Family Jun 2, 2020
The first ep. was intense and intriguing. First it seems that no one is likeable and nice. Sisters are cold witches, brother is an oaf... and slowly we uncover the emotional deep of characters. I wonder what will be a whole story of protagonists' relationship.
Han Ye Ri plays excellent!
I hope it will be a good drama.

Check it out and see for yourself. Every one has different taste! It has its good and bad qualities.
Yes, indeed. But some people are watching for romance, others for Woo Do Hwan, and others like me for white horse.
However everyone who loves time travel is a bit disappointed...

This plot is sometimes confusing me and it shouldn't,since I am a wibbly wobbly, timey wimey travel stuff fan...I…
Skipping scenes is not good for understanding the plot, because the writer pays intense attention to the special motives and words like balance or time that play an important part in a scenario. And Lee Min Ho plays the main role in time travels. So if you miss them the plot will be a mess.

I hope in this case the motive of FATE will be interpreted in the way of Korean style, I mean eventually, characters…
We'll see... Does the balance and justice need the big sacrifice? Perhaps one of Woo Do Hwans has to die... :)

" I do not think we are going to get the nice Korean style" - yes, I agree.
The script skips many things and explanations, often viewers do not understand what's going on (so do I), because the scenes are shredded and cut. Usually Korean drama limits characters and plots to emphasize the main theme and give depth to them or tell about metanoia of the main lead. Scenic simplicity is a strong point of Korean drama, because it lets elaborate the main idea. But here "ambition" of the script leads me to see the only esthetic side of TKEM (music, cinematography, scenography, the white horse etc.)
Who of the characters has a psychological depth?
No one.
Even the king who supposed to be widely presented. He has a proud and that's it.
If the writer wants to wrap all the plots it has to be superficial.
The motivations of characters actions are (still) unknown, their decisions realizing justice and balance are (still) unknown.
Will the end bring the answers? I'm afraid not.

It means that everyone, in Monarchy and Republic: kings, people, government officials, serves to build a world of justice, which is called here the balance.
I'm very curious about how the writer will solve the problem of fate. Maybe fate will also be a way of bringing justice to the world.
Your explanations are so wise! I wish I could watch dramas together with you :) Everything seems to be clear. Where are you from? :)
Is it your term mechanical script or is it used in articles maybe?

That is a great analysis, now I can see more things I didn't notice :) Thanx! I did understand this drama more in an emotional way. For me, first of all, it's a picture of Korean mythos of monarchy and kingdom and ethos of the virtue of the king and government, an example is a scene in the royal ship. And of course, the main leads realize the classic trope of lovers who cannot be together.
I totally coudn't understand the subplot of policemen, is this a kind of presentation of ordinary life? Nice environment? I don't know.
Many people complain about the scenario, what do you think?

Please, explain something more about nr 4, set up. And how do you see it it this drama.
I think there are so many subplots that main idea is hardly to recognize by viewers.

I hope in this case the motive of FATE will be interpreted in the way of Korean style, I mean eventually, characters will act against their destiny and karma and they will achieve their own goals. It's the main reason I watch this drama because sometimes it's too naive to watch it with a serious face.
Your guide is very nice! Thanx!

Like the cast and the acting but this plotline is just unnecessary stress and too predictable. I watched a couple…
It depends what you like. The family plot with a cute girl and nice villagers is just relaxing and fun, but the thriller part is a bit heavy (I skip it).

There is a great family drama in this drama. So nice and sweet! The little girl is adorable!
I wish the director cut all unnecessary scenes with evil chebols!

i feel too dumb for this drama i have no idea whats happening
Me too, it's packed with stories, characters, worlds but at the same time, everything seems to be a bit superficial. And complicated.

I know only first episode aired but i feel like Woo Do Hwan's character is going to die in the end. For some reason…
Oh No!
I wish she kill instead main lead for once!

I skip all the scenes of nasty chebols and don't regret. Well, there are two dramas: a funny one in the village and a boring one with the company-thriller-psycho staff.

This drama is actually more about the bad guy than the two "leads" who you end up liking and feeling sorry for…
Ikr. The leads relationship is so bland.

This is so uncomfortable to watch !!!! And the rating is so not true to what you get. It's a low quality drama…
Kim Dong Wook looks in this way, I mean as an old and tired man, because of the script. Maybe you don't understand the idea of this story? Maybe you think it is a romcom? Then try something else.
Kim Dong Wook perfectly portrays good looking and happy boy before the tragedy and exhausted and dead beat after.
And Moon Ga Young plays perfectly as well. She can create every scene with deep emotions. I love to watch her!
Great drama!
