Yeah Micha.. I'm the same as Mermaid here who missed out on the initial watch , so thanks really for the opportunity to watch TTEOTM and comment with others about each episode.

(Coz irl, I really haven't gotten anyone to share my pain since I know they won't like this kind of drama --for the angst and length of episodes--so it was really really nice to have something like this to vent out my feelings)

DG is like that chalkboard. It's still there, but the writings on it (aka the sins) get erased over and over again.
DG TTJ might have "died" but it doesn't really mean he's gone. Only the accumulated sins (that's 10k worth) with him "dies".
But as DG, he will always be there.

Nah, the DG that will return will be a more compassionate one, I think. (A compassionate DG? what in the xianxia is that??🤣)

.....the wedding. Since it's a devil wedding, of course it should be different. (for one, even devils wed? as devils, aren't they just doing what, and who they want?) LSS dropping her cup at the last drink (please tell if there's any significance to her dropping the cup during their vows, if it's a taboo or just a sign of defiance by LSS)
.....TTJ looking at LSS as he says "As long as there are sins in the world, the Devil God will not perish." ---get the hint, Susu. (get the hint too, self)
.....LSS activates Chongyu to hold on to TTJ as it is a divine artifact holding divine power that can at the very least wound the DG. When she activates the Self-sacrificing (Incarnation abandoning?) Array.... ah, TTJ, don't you really recognize yourself in her? Didn't you just do something like that before MY snapped you out of it?
.....the immortal sects (it seems ALL of them have gathered, unlike the pitiful numbers before) see what LSS has done, and GJW with the heavy red eyeliner says go ahead, sacrifice LSS for the chance to kill TTJ................ jeez.
......forget GJW for now, TTJ and LSS's convo is much more interesting to watch.
TTJ continues to make LSS hate him to sever their ties and make her ascend to godhood faster, but ends up receiving more nails into the heart (LSS: I was foolish. Bringing you light gave darkness to the realms. Now I can only make up for it with my life. Even if I die, I've done my duty, and others will kill you) -----who says MY and SJ aren't their past lives??? this is eerily similar to SJ's speech (tho of course that was for revenge).
.....So is LSS attempting to get the evil bone from TTJ? is that what the strands of power are supposed to do?
It hits me now that how TTJ is acting now is like acting from a screenplay that he himself (or the ADG, whatever) has written. He lets LSS hold him, and then stalls for time while the sects activate the celestial array (which btw is so cool of them, groups of immortals channeling power similar to each of the 12 gods--or is it 9 since Chu Huang, Jize and MY were fighting?), and then when the array was ready, he releases his superpower (the devil god thingy).....
it's like the only variable that can make or break TTJ's plans is whether LSS can break through and ascend to godhood.
.......when TTJ hugs LSS for the last time before he yeets her into the lightning punishment (jeez, I suddenly remembered that comment before, making me laugh unexpectedly) is an apology, and at the same time, info about what she's going to suffer. -----but him looking away and looking pained as she cries out is just heartbreaking.
.......again, when GJW says LSS's death is meaningful as long as they kill TTJ, LYX's slight eye movement clearly show that at that point TTJ knows GJW has changed into something evil. (that man really expresses a lot with his beautiful eyes.)
......TTJ saves GJW from himself, then throws him down, knowing that somewhere, MN will save him from the fall. so now that that particular thread is now tied up, back to the business of destroying the AIDW.
......the AIDW is so close to the Jing Kingdom. YE QINGYUUUUUU... I missed you!!!!! using PR's power to protect the kingdom, that's so him. He uses PR's power well.
.......TTJ, with the understanding of a god, is still waiting for LSS to awaken. But it seems she's taking it slow....so slow..... so he makes it faster by activating crossbow eyeball and pointing it in the direction of the immortal sects, making her flashback again to the trauma of her past.
.......his relieved SMILE, tho, when he sees her start to ascend.....is beautiful but at the same time heartbreaking. WHY DIDN'T THIS FREEZE WHEN TIME FROZE during LSS's ascension??? (and why is "that's my girl" playing in my head when I saw him smile?)
......LSS seeing the 12 gods (MY, JZ very visible, as of course is CH, duh)... the family she might have had
......yeah, the goddess costume is beautiful.....but cold.
......A god trying to deceive another god. oh TTJ, you're not the only one with the poker face now......you're not the only one who understands now. Every misunderstanding, every lie that you had to tell LSS, she knows now.
(and at this point, dear reader, I know you're also crying... because his life is so hard, but it has to be her who ends it.)
.....it's TTJ's turn now to teach LSS about the meaning of godhood. For the gods, really, we mortals are simply small specks of existence, but important nonetheless. and for him, LSS is the best god there is, because just like how she changed his fate, she can change others' as well.

.......LSS wakes up at the mausoleum, hearing their convo in the mausoleum in her head.
and this is precisely why this scene is chef's kiss in its placement. The pain of realizing that he had already known how he will end, that he didn't even think he was worthy of being called the "beloved" husband of Ye Xiwu, the pain of him consoling himself alone with dreams of her, the pain of seeing her as how she should have been, openly saying she loves him, and the pain of seeing her regrets
......How did they prove that love existed? ------Ami.

Episode 39 (part 2)

......LSS wakes up at the dragon float, in wedding clothes, and again confronts TTJ, who as the DG is everywhere (of course). Learning that she was to be wed to the DG, she says words that cut TTJ's heart (though of course she doesn't know it, but maybe she sensed it from the quite long silence after) ---my heart was cut at that too. oh LSS....if only you knew...........
.....TTJ joins her in the float to look at the Mohe River.
(I can't take this part again.......wait.)
Like before.....it still pains me so much how sincere his words and his wishes are, but they were said in the coldest, emotionless voice possible.
......what struck me just NOW, in this rewatch, is when LSS was telling him to stop comparing himself to MY, that MY, though he failed SJ, saved the world, her statement really tells TTJ (and us) where her priorities lie ---that in a choice between the one she loves, and the world, she'd really choose the world.
(why. did. I. just. write. that.)
.......TTJ cuts off LSS when she starts to ask why he is showing her the Ye Mansion if he really holds nothing dear, because she was starting to pick up on his true feelings. But as a god, he really could compartmentalize well ----how I wish I can compartmentalize while doing this commentary too---- he must be dying of pain inside while having a cold emotionless mask outside.
........They enter TTJ's Bo're dream.
I missed Chuntao.... and Zeyu....... and YE QINGYU... and General Ye...... and GRANDMAAAAA..... (why is YQY at the back???)
........TTJ: in this Bo're dream, I'm just your husband. How do you like it?
------I'm staring at the screen just like how LSS is staring at TTJ. OF COURSE SHE LIKES IT! How could she not......... If they weren't DG and goddess, that should have been their life.....
......TTJ snaps at LSS when she cuttingly asks why he wants a happy mortal life. -----BECAUSE HE WANTS A MORTAL LIFE WITH YOU, THAT'S WHY!
.......and they're in the New Year's scene. that memorable New Year's scene. That New Year's scene where they talk about the Sketch charm, and what it reveals ------ a pure heart.
When LSS says she wished he could make the charm work, he smiles ---because he knew that he didn't let her down.
(and at this point, dear reader, I know you also broke down.)
...... LSS asks TTJ if he's going to kill her. TTJ turns away to hide his feelings, but when he faces her, he has to put on the mask again. She asks if there was no turning back anymore for both of them. He gets angry because OF COURSE there's no turning back anymore........ everything is already in place. their destinies are too tangled up to be unwound.
So when she says that she should bid him farewell at that moment......... TTJ's eyes show that he understood what she meant. (to quote KinnPorsche, LYX, sir, I am in awe of your acting prowess. It's the little expressions that made the scene more impactful.)
.....that farewell scene is so beautiful. Just like what the assistant said at the BTS, it's like we shouldn't even be watching that. It's their last beautiful moment when they are truthful to each other, that there was nothing more important than being with the one you love, surrendering, and giving to them.
.....TTJ leaving for that useless thing..... I did expect that it was the tombstone scene 2.0, but again, the impact it had by not being in this episode is =chef's kiss=---one brilliant thing that editors did do right by this episode.
.....LSS realizing that they had only ever had moments in winter. It again strikes me NOW that LSS must have realized that in setting up the Bo're dream in winter, not only does it show that all their memorable moments were during the winter, but also shows how TTJ views her love for him -- cold and without warmth. TTJ must have realized that too as he looked around his Bo're dream, and passes it off as just a choice in season.

.....really, the placement of GJW's scenes is just for us to take a breather from all the crying in this episode.
......I've read comments about how this devil wedding echoes MY and SJ's wedding, and it does, but for me, it's a reflection. Note LSS and TTJ's positions. Where MY was at the left, and SJ on the right, LSS is in MY's place, while TTJ is at SJ's. Where MY and SJ's is a heavenly marriage, LSS and TTJ's is a devil wedding.

The beginning of the end.
Episode 39. (part 1)

......LSS confronts DG3.0, not to kill him as he thinks she plans to do, but to seek an explanation. Valid point: he did promise her he wouldn't be the Devil God, so what was he doing??
And then he gives the explanation. Every point he made is hurtful because they were at some point, true. First, the marriage and her betrayal. He was indeed ready to give her the world, but she stabbed his heart not just once, but six times. Second, his torment at the Nether River for 500 years amounted to nothing because of LSS's (initial) denial of him. Third, his love for her wasn't comparable to her love of the world (remembering her high sounding explanation at the tower scene). Any person would indeed feel it isn't fair, and will turn all that love into hate.
But not TTJ. He says all those words with hate, but his eyes tell a different story. He looks into LSS's eyes and sees the pain in there, and feels pain as well.
----I'm drowning in LYX's expressions. But BL's anguish is real too.
(on a side note, noticed that the gold highlights in TTJ's hair in yesterday's ep is gone. or is it just the lighting? but no, even with dim lighting the gold highlights were there.... but not now)
.......LSS: You're lying.
Of course he's lying. You (we) can see the unshed tears in his eyes.
......and then ADG takes over. We could easily see that moment when ADG starts to control him before his voice even takes over. It's ALWAYS in the eyes. (chokehold is our love language here)
To kill LSS is to end their entanglements, but of course TTJ won't have it.
(at this point, while ADG is talking about ending entanglements, I wonder about SY. When he made TTJ hold LSS by the throat, could he have been thinking about how he severed SY's destiny with him? ---kinda shipping her with ADG more than I'm shipping her with JM.)
......then ADG suspends TTJ in time, to confront his wayward devil fetus.
That confrontation is electric. (yes, in part because that's two LYXs gracing the screen) We have on one side, the POV of a god, who only deals with absolutes. Because he is the god of all evils and misfortune, all he sees in TTJ's life, all his relations with the people in his life, was all misfortune. But TTJ, who has experienced the life of a mortal, which is never purely black or purely white, but almost always gray, sees that despite the little he received, it was enough to stay in the light. TTJ was able to see the love in the mother he never knew, the father who hated him, the nannies who betrayed him, the friend he killed, and of course the lover who seemed not to care for him. Thus, the golden-black power that emanates from TTJ is different from ADG's red-black one.
And that realization is how he was able to defeat the ADG's will, and how he took control of the three devil artifacts that were even made from the ADG's own body.
(now, the purpose of the spider demon is to narrate events huh.)
ADG's parting words, however, was too painful. "Whether I'm becoming you, or you becoming me, the outcome is the same." ----at this point, we really should have been prepared that it won't be a HE for TTJ.
.........When TTJ merges with the ADG, he now understands EVERYTHING that must be done to stop the AIDW, and the role LSS has to play, and how their story should end. ------wait. brb. pls. crying.
.........thing is, seeing the remaining sect leaders, I'm both happy that the younger generation is taking over, but sad that there wasn't any wiser sect leader left..... and they're left with going-insane-XL2.0. HE WAS ALREADY WARNED OFF FROM THAT DEVIL CLIFF, BUT WHAT DOES HE DO????! Bitchang's tears overpowered TTJ's blood. tsk tsk.
........TTJ: "I hope that you (LSS) will be as resolute as you were then."
.........TTJ on the dragon float (without LSS on the seat, tho) thinking about NBY just to tie up NBY's loose end here. Writers/editors didn't do well with the tying up tho. So many questions still linger. (and a certain disconnect too, since TTJ didn't have many significant moments)
.......=sigh= instead of GJW going batshit crazy and absorbing devil power, why didn't the writers just have GJW researching about ways to contain TTJ and PYZ helping out? The devilizing thing really did a disservice to GJW's character (further more), especially with how he was in episode 1. ---and if he's devillizing, WHERE THE HELL IS MO NV WHEN YOU NEED HER??? she could have been the voice of reason here.
(calm down, it's the second to the last ep, of course more storylines with them will be cut out--- but still. what a waste of character.)

I liked how the reveal about Shifu's death was done in flashbacks which made the impact of CJM turning into the DG more emotional. I felt like LSS when he started to turn into DG: one moment I was rejoicing the death of that pretender, then in the next breath and music change, I was as horrified to see CJM change into DG.😢

Yeah, I think LSS should have been the one to finish off DM too. Although CJM coming in the nick of time is cool, I hoped that LSS could get at least ten slashes in when she attacked that Twofaced B--.... she deserves to get to hurt him (badly, until he's disfigured beyond recognition, but that's just me😅🤪) if she's not going to kill him.
