I'm still surprised to see users who finished this the same time as I still coming back here 😂 Just coming back here to see if there's any new news ~
Yuanzhi, shyly, giving the Chuyun Chonglian to Gong Zi Yu is so cute while also showing him off the pouch he gave him. And my power couple fighting side by side together was such a great scene. I need more of these in any drama couples.
Would have loved to see more of GSJ, GYZ, and GZY's brotherhood, tho. And more fighting scenes with YWS and GZY as a power couple.
Welp, feeling a bit empty after finishing the drama ~
I've started this and watched some episodes but now I'm wondering on whether I should actually continue this since…
Watch and judge it for yourself. Other people's take might be different than yours coz different people will have different opinions or feelings about it ~ Don't get easily swayed, my friend.
I've seen some of the clips of the concert and it was so nice to see the trio again. I'm glad that they did this concert coz they deserve all the good things ~ It was so nice to see the friendship that blossomed through this drama for the cast, esp. Cheng Yi, Zeng Shunxi, and Xiao Shunyao.
"No matter how long the night is, it will end. There is no wall in this world that can stop the sun from rising."
Well, the ending isn't that bad like how others paint it to be. But, yes, it does leave room for another season/part 2. Even the last episode ends with a cliffhanger 😆 Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey, the journey of Gong Zi Yu's path to becoming the deserving Sword Wielder that he is to the Gong family.
I was actually expecting an angst for the main couple before diving into this drama, given its theme/genre, that I already resigned to myself for a SE for them, but to my surprise, I didn't. It did give me a different kind of angst for every character and relationship that I resonated with. I cried for the good people that passed on, former Sword Wielder, Elder Yue, Young Master Xue, Elder Hua, Young Master Hua, and the mother of all, the mother Raven, Han Yasi. Each of their deaths will never be in vain.
YWS and GZY are the most calm and endearing couple I've seen in a drama. No big betrayals or big misunderstandings. They have always been by each other side from the get-go. Gong Zi Yu is one of the greenest MLs out there, sweetest and most direct kind of guy. Gong Shang Jue and Gong Yuanzhi is the best example of a real brotherhood, ready to protect each other. Gong Zi Shang and Jin Fan gave me the comic relief I needed when the drama gets a bit heavy. I was very well pleased when GZY, GSJ, and GYZ finally united as brothers and fought together. As expected, GSJ has been the supporting big brother to GZY in the shadows. I would have loved to have seen more of the Gong bros hanging together instead of at each other's throats, but I guess that's inevitable coz that's part of the plot twists.
I know some solo fans of the main leads out there are not satisfied and saying it's a waste for both of them to be in this drama, but it's not true at all. This drama offered Esther a different type of role she had never done before, showcasing that her range is wide and can do more than the previous ones she's done. Although this is my first drama of ZLH, he was phenomenal as Gong Zi Yu. I cried with them and felt for them throughout the story. Despite his reputation, the director has a keen eye in choosing all of his actors, from main leads to the supporting ones. The drama has one of the best-choreographed and executed fighting scenes I've seen, besides Mysterious Lotus Casebook. And he has a talent for capturing breathtakingly the beauty of each of the characters (well, except for my baby Zeng Shunxi with that hair coz what the heck? 😅)
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the story. One way to see the ending for me is that there are always people like Wufeng who will disturb the world's peace. Evil will always exist. They serve as a catalyst for the Gong family to let the world know they no longer need to be shackled or threatened by Wufeng. If this does have a continuation, then good. Till then, just like Gong Zi Yu, we'll probably be waiting till the day the Cloud (Yun) returns to Feathers (Yu) ~ ♡
