This may be explained further in S2 as this scene was not in the novel. Imo, he prolly turned it into a pearl as a keepsake. After all, it's the first tear she ever shed for him, in a way.

You and me both!~ I sometimes root for 2nd leads at times, too, but never have I expected to actually root for the 3rd lead here instead. TJC is just so phenomenal with his role. And also that intense chemistry he and YZ have. Would actually love to see them lead a drama of their own. Prolly a happy ending for us YaoLius, in a way (:
